Job summary

A leading engineering company in Cheltenham is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join their permanent team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on fitting experience, a strong understanding of technical drawings, and knowledge of manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for the mechanical assembly of products, maintaining machinery, and working on product design. This role offers a competitive salary between £30,000 and £35,000 depending on experience.

  • Able to read and work to technical drawings.
  • Previous experience repairing, maintaining or assembling machinery.

About the client

My client provides unique Engineering services within the Energy and Power industry. They are looking for a Electro-Mechanical Fitter to join their team in Cheltenham on a permanent basis.

Qualifications / attributes
  • Industry experience ideally working in a hands-on fitting/manufacture/assembly role
  • Able to read and work to technical drawings
  • Previous experience repairing, maintaining or assembling machinery
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems
  • Good mathematical and general engineering knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials - sheet metal, castings, machining etc.
  • Be technically minded and proactive, with a head for problem solving
  • Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
  • Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Responsibilities
  • Mechanical assembly of various products and machines
  • Working to company standards for test and repair
  • Maintaining equipment and machinery
  • Performing development activities and finding new mechanical solutions
  • Being involved in the product design and development process using CAD
  • Producing the relevant documentation that is required
