ATA Recruitment Ltd in Nottinghamshire seeks a Technical Lead – Electro Mechanical Design Engineer to own mechanical design across vibratory motors and specialist plant equipment, with scope to apply electrical testing and validation.

You will develop 3D models and drawings in SolidWorks, support manufacturing, and drive engineering changes from concept to production. Strong engineering background and motor knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• HNC, HND, degree or equivalent engineering qualification.
• Experience designing machinery or mechanical products incorporating electrical components.
• Understanding of how mechanical and electrical systems work together.
• Ability to work independently with minimal support.
• Good communication skills and a practical, hands‑on approach.
• Electrical design or electric motor knowledge.
• Motor testing and fault diagnosis.
• ATEX and ISO 9001.
• Machining, fabrication or induction motor design principles.

Responsibilities

• Designing specialist plant equipment and bespoke machinery

Technical Lead – Electro Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Nottinghamshire

The Company

Our client is a well-established, third-generation family business with a history dating back to the 1940’s

They design and manufacture electric motors, pumps, gearboxes and specialist industrial equipment, supplying industries including mining, quarrying, food processing and manufacturing.

With around 110 employees, they offer a complete cradle-to-grave service, with design, CNC machining, fabrication, electrical assembly and testing all carried out in-house.

The Role

This is a hands‑on, design-focused role where you will take ownership of mechanical design across vibratory motors and specialist plant equipment, while also getting involved in the electrical side of the products.

The role is predominantly mechanical design, with the opportunity to use and develop your electrical knowledge through motor testing, fault finding and performance validation.

Working closely with manufacturing, sales and other engineers, you will see your designs through from concept to production.
