Job summary

GE Vernova’s Marine Power Test Facility (MPTF) in Leicester requires an Electro-Mechanical CAD Designer to produce 2D/3D drawings for electro-mechanical installations and support multiple engineering projects. You will use Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD to deliver circuit diagrams, cable schedules, piping, and structural layouts in a regulated environment.

Collaboration with Systems Engineering and field teams is essential.

Qualifications

Job Description The role of Electro-Mechanical CAD Designer at GE Power Conversion UK is an exceptional opportunity for your capabilities, enthusiasm, and experience to make a real impact at one of the leading energy technology companies working on major, global projects.

About The Role

This role is based at our Marine Power Test Facility (MPTF) in Whetstone (Leicester). This state-of-the-art facility plays a crucial role in de-risking, present and future platforms, energy and propulsion technologies, micro grids and associated systems and solutions for both surface ships and submarines. This is an autonomous role where you will be responsible for producing engineering designs and drawings, using AutoCAD / Autodesk Inventor computer aided design (CAD) software, to provide support for all engineering activities at the Marine Power Test Facility (MPTF) on a variety of engineering projects. The areas of responsibility will cover electrical system drawings and documentation: circuit diagrams, single line diagrams, interconnection drawings, cable schedules; and also for: cable routing, piping systems, plant layout / spatial design, mechanical arrangements, and structural designs. The duties can vary day to day and month to month, depending on the project and the status of the project, and also the facility requirements. As part of this role, you will also have responsibility for the following activities:

  • Comply with company and regulatory health and safety requirements.
  • Create and maintain all project and site facility 2D/3D drawings for electro-mechanical installations.
  • Developing detailed designs to specifications, standards, and regulations.
  • Execute the design adhering to business standards, practices, and procedures.
  • Review engineering drawings and designs for accuracy to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
  • Providing technical support to Engineering colleagues.
  • Survey the existing building, structures, for the creation and update of drawings.
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers (including site visits).
  • Assists in other areas of the business as required.
Qualifications/Requirements

City & Guilds, HNC/HND or Degree in CAD, Engineering, or a related discipline. Advanced user of Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD, or similar packages, with a strong track record in both 2D and 3D electro-mechanical design. Proven experience in producing complex electrical/mechanical drawings (cable schedules, piping, and structural layouts) within a regulated engineering environment. A proactive, self-motivated professional who thrives in a diverse, collaborative facility environment.

The applicant must be a sole national British citizen and have a valid UK passport, and holds, or is eligible to obtain, UK security clearance to SC level. Hold a valid full UK driving licence.
