Job summary

VolkerWessels UK is seeking an Electrician to join the Bournemouth Street Lighting team, supporting maintenance and improvements across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. You will assist with installation, testing, fault repairs and responsive duties to ensure safe, reliable street lighting for the local road network.

Applicants should have street lighting experience, knowledge of Safe Isolation/G39, NRSWA, SWQR and ES&H standards.

Qualifications

• Street Lighting installation experience preferred.
• Knowledge of safety and site rules.
• Electrical testing and fault diagnosis experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation of signs, columns, bollards and equipment.
• 24-hour emergency response/out of hours standby.
• Carry out electrical testing and fault repairs as directed.
• Maintain high standards of vehicle and equipment safety.

Job description

We have the capability to deliver major surfacing and public realm infrastructure projects. Our specialist in-house traffic management division provides expert advice and support across the industry, whilst assisting with our own, in-house contracts.

About the role

We are seeking an Electrician to join our Bournemouth based Street Lighting team, supporting the maintenance and improvement of lighting assets across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. From overseeing maintenance and fault repairs to managing testing and renewal programmes, you'll be part of a contract that makes a real difference to the safety and reliability of the local road network.

Key responsibilities:

• Assisting with the installation of signs / columns, bollards and associated equipment
• 24-hour Emergency Response / Out of Hours Standby
• Assisting with the installation of any new build works
• Carry out works as instructed by the Site Supervisor in a safe manner, within the scope if relevant duties
• Electrical inspection and testing including periodic testing
• Fault diagnosis and repair
• Ensure vehicles are maintained to a high standard, with vehicle defect sheet completed correctly

About you

• Ideally 3 years Street Lighting installations experience
• Must demonstrate good awareness of site and company rules
• Safe Isolation / G39
• SWQR Qualification
• NRSWA
• MEWP Operator
• ECS H&S Test
• First Aid (Appointed Person)
• 18th Edition Electrical
• Preferable registration to Highways Electrical Level 3 NVQ
• Driving Licence up to 3.5 tonne
