Job summary

Midland Heart is recruiting an Electrician to join the In-House Repairs & Maintenance Team. You will diagnose faults, complete electrical repairs and help ensure our 35,000 homes across the Midlands are safe and well maintained.

The role offers a basic salary of £42,311 per year, with enhanced out-of-hours pay, a potential bonus, a Midland Heart van and tools, PPE, and a strong benefits package including pension and healthcare.

Qualifications

• Experience completing electrical repairs and maintenance in domestic properties.
• Inspection & Testing qualification (2391) or equivalent.
• Current BS 7671 18th Edition accreditation (2382) and knowledge of IET Wiring Regulations.
• Level 3 electrical qualification (NVQ3 or City & Guilds 2360) desirable.
• Full UK manual driving licence.
• Commitment to delivering quality workmanship and getting repairs right first time.

Responsibilities

What will you be doing?

As an Electrician, you'll play an important role in ensuring our 35,000 homes are safe, well maintained and places that people love to live in.

Working across both occupied and empty properties, you'll use your electrical expertise to diagnose and complete a broad range of electrical works, including:

• Electrical installations, repairs and maintenance
• Emergency and responsive call-outs
• Servicing, inspection and testing
• Diagnosing and rectifying electrical faults
• Maintaining electrical systems and appliances
• Ensuring work is completed safely and to a high-quality standard in accordance with the current edition of the IET Wiring Regulations

You'll take ownership of the work you're completing, aiming to resolve repairs right first time wherever possible and delivering a high standard of workmanship for our tenants.

What are we looking for?

You'll be an experienced Electrician with a strong background in electrical repairs and maintenance, ideally gained within domestic properties or the Social Housing sector.

You'll be confident diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs and completing electrical testing and inspection to a high standard, while having a strong understanding of electrical safety and safe working practices.

As you'll be working in people's homes, how you work is just as important as the work itself. You'll communicate clearly with our tenants, treat their homes with respect, work safely and tidily, and leave them confident that the job has been completed properly.

You’ll need:

• Experience completing electrical repairs and maintenance tasks, ideally within domestic properties or Social Housing
• Inspection & Testing qualification, such as City & Guilds 2391 initial verification & periodic or equivalent
• Current accreditation in the requirements of BS 7671, such as City & Guilds 2382: 18th Edition, with a good working knowledge of the current IET Wiring Regulations
• A suitable Level 3 electrical qualification is essential. An NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Systems, or equivalent such as City & Guilds 2360 Parts 1 & 2, is desirable
• A commitment to delivering quality workmanship and getting repairs right first time
• A full UK manual driving licence
