• BTEC HNC in Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
• Low voltage electrical distribution equipment knowledge.
• General power distribution systems experience.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Maintain electrical building services to a high standard and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Work as a senior member of a multi-disciplinary first response team of in-house engineers and contractors.
• Support the university facilities ensuring uptime and minimal disruption to teaching and research.
• Lead health and safety tasks, safe systems of work, and permits.
• Prepare risk assessments, method statements, and safety documents as required.
• Perform system isolations and lockout/tagout per procedures.
• Produce testing and certification documents for all works.
• Advise the discipline supervisor on technical and compliance issues.
• Coordinate tasks via CAFM system; keep stakeholders informed of progress.
• Assist with 1-2-1s and SRD inputs; participate in duty tech on-call rotation.

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer on behalf of one of our clients.

Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel however all candidates will be given due consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• To ensure that electrical building services are maintained to a high standard, comply with regulations, are safe and that emergencies are dealt with promptly.
• Will be expected to work alone and as a senior member of a multi-disciplined first response team, consisting of in-house engineers and specialist contractors. You will work on a variety of electrical & sometimes mechanical systems utilising your experience and knowledge of electrical systems.
• This role will support the wider university to deliver the very best in class facilities which maximise uptime and minimise disruption to any teaching and research activities.
• Leads by example with all health & safety requirements and activities including operating to discipline specific safe systems of work requiring specific permits to more day to day routine activities.
• Prepare risk assessments and method statements or other safety documents as required by the task.
• Perform system isolations and LOTO as required following processes and procedures.
• Ensures the work place is kept tidy and safe for self and others.
• Operate as part of a senior / skilled trade engineer.
• Produce any and all testing and certification documents for all works undertaken.
• Advise and support the discipline supervisor on all technical and compliance issues and concerns. Support the discipline Supervisor in the delivery of technical information to the wider team.
• Carry out all work allocated to them through the CAFM system in a safe and timely manner.
• Ensure the building users/stakeholders are kept fully informed of the status of job progress periodically until jobs are fully resolved.
• Respond appropriately to and prioritise allocated workload in collaboration with the control centre team.
• Supports the team Supervisor with coaching and mentoring of the technical and assistant team. Operate and communicate with the wider asset management teams to ensure clear communications are met.
• Inputs to the discipline Supervisor as needed on colleagues 1-2-1's and SRD's.
• Undertake any trade training needs to remain current and certified competent.
• Participate in the duty tech on-call rotation as a primary or secondary support function.
• Deputises for their Supervisor as required.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Recognised trade apprenticeship.
• City and Guilds Qualification in Electrical Installation.
• Achievement measurement (AM1&2) in Electrical Installation.
• City and Guilds 2382 - 18th Edition (or current) Wiring Regulations.
• BTEC HNC in Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
• Low voltage electrical distribution equipment within sub-stations.
• General power distribution systems.
• Full UK driving licence.
