Job summary

Mears Group has secured a major 10-year contract with Birmingham City Council to deliver repairs, maintenance and planned investment across 11,500 homes in central and west Birmingham. We are seeking skilled Electricians focused on EICR testing and electrical compliance in occupied domestic properties.

You will perform electrical testing, fault finding and safety inspections to keep homes compliant and safe.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations including AM2.
• City & Guilds 18th Edition (or able to update)
• Inspection & Testing 2391 or equivalent (2394/2395)
• Full UK driving licence with clean record
• Experience in domestic/social housing environments

Responsibilities

• Inspect electrical installations including fixed wiring, consumer units, circuits and protective devices for condition and compliance.
• Perform full testing sequences: continuity, insulation, polarity, RCD testing and earth fault loop impedance.
• Identify remedial actions, assign C-codes, and recommend or complete works to achieve compliance.
• Carry out fault finding and safely reinstate circuits after issues are found.
• Carry out minor remedial repairs to sockets, switches, alarms and fittings as needed.
• Support compliance programmes and deliver testing and inspection work per contract standards.
• Produce accurate certification and documentation using digital job management systems.
• Adhere to safety procedures and regulatory requirements during testing and inspection.
• Communicate testing processes clearly to residents and keep them informed during visits.
• Leave properties safe and clean after works and inform tenants of follow-up actions.
• Represent the company with high standards of customer care in occupied homes.
