Job summary

Berneslai Homes in Barnsley is seeking a qualified Electrician to carry out repairs, maintenance and refurbishment work across our housing estates. You will work 37 hours a week in a full-time, permanent role, committed to safety and quality.

The ideal candidate holds NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (City and Guilds) with AM2, understands IET BS7671 wiring regulations, and can interpret drawings, test installations and complete certificates promptly.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation with AM2.
• Knowledge of IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671) 18th/17th edition with upgrade plan within 6 months.
• Experience with electrical installation, fault finding, and refurbishments.
• Ability to work at height.

Responsibilities

• Carry out electrical work on repairs and maintenance and refurbishment projects.
• Interpret detailed electrical drawings and diagrams.
• Test and inspect installations against IET requirements and take remedial action as needed.
• Complete electrical certificates/reports and submit to Client/Agent within deadlines.
• Work on installations including renewable technologies.
• Ensure certificates and paperwork are completed to specification.

The Electrician role:

Key duties and responsibilities of our Electrician:

• Carry out all aspects of electrical work on repairs and maintenance and refurbishment projects.
• Carry out electrical repairs and installations to the current Institute of Electrical Engineers (IET) wiring requirements.
• Interpret detailed electrical design drawings and diagrams.
• Test and inspect electrical installations against current IET requirements and take appropriate remedial action where required.
• Complete works on a wide range of electrical installations and specialist equipment such as renewable technologies.
• Ensure that all electrical test certificates and reports are completed to specification and signed by the appropriate person ready for submission to Client/Client Agent within specified time frames.

What we're looking for in our Electrician:

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (City and Guilds) including AM2 Qualification.
• BS7671:2018 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations or 17th edition and willing to achieve 18th edition within six months.City and Guilds 2391 or Equivalent Inspecting and Testing certificate or working towards or willing to attain within six months of any start date.
• Previous experience and knowledge of electrical installation, fault finding and proactive repairs including installing electrical equipment to a high standard on repairs and maintenance and refurbishment projects.
• Ability and experience of working at height.
