Job summary

PCL Net Zero in Whitehaven, Cumbria, is recruiting a Electrician to join our hands-on team. You’ll install, test and commission solar PV, battery storage and EV charging systems, taking a lead on site surveys and ensuring jobs are scoped right first time.

This senior role involves supervising two to three electricians, issuing EICs/EICRs, and advancing our customers’ low-carbon installations across West Cumbria and the Lake District. Training toward solar tickets is funded by us.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (Electrical Installation) required.
• 18th Edition (BS 7671) knowledge required.
• Inspection, testing and certification experience; able to issue EICs and EICRs.
• 2+ years post-qualification experience in domestic or commercial settings.
• Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.
• Within commuting distance of Whitehaven, or willing to relocate.

Responsibilities

• Commissioning installations and issuing EICs and MCS commissioning documentation.
• Engineer site surveys: Consumer unit, cable routes — and feeding that into our design team's proposals.

Electrician — Whitehaven, Cumbria

£41,000–£50,000 + company van + pension

Full-time · Based in Whitehaven · Jobs across West Cumbria and the Lake District

We install solar PV, battery storage, EV chargers and heat pumps across the Lakes, and we need a qualified electrician to join our team.

You'll be doing hands-on installation and commissioning as part of our team, and carrying out site surveys so jobs are scoped right the first time. It's a senior role with real responsibility — and if you don't yet have your solar tickets, we'll fund the training to get you there.

What your week looks like

• On the tools installing, testing and commissioning solar PV, battery storage and EV charging systems
• Commissioning installations and issuing EICs and MCS commissioning documentation
• Engineer site surveys: Consumer unit, cable routes — and feeding that into our design team's proposals

What you need

• Qualified electrician: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation
• 18th Edition (BS 7671)
• Inspection, testing and certification experience — you're confident issuing EICs and EICRs
• 2+ years post-qualification experience, domestic or commercial
• Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK
• Within commuting distance of Whitehaven, or willing to relocate

• Previous team-lead or supervisory experience
