Job summary

AmcoGiffen is seeking an Electrician to support a growing portfolio of rail electrical installation projects across South Wales and the Wales & Western region. You will work on electrical installation, containment, testing and EV charging infrastructure, with travel to various sites and a commitment to safety.

Rail experience is preferred but training can be provided; PTS sponsorship is available. Opportunities for long-term project work and career progression exist within a supportive team

Qualifications

  • Qualified Electrician with valid UK qualifications.
  • CSCS card holder.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Strong electrical installation background.
  • Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required.
  • Commitment to safety and site procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical installation works across rail and electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Cable installation and containment on site.
  • Power and lighting installations and testing.
  • Systems Fixed Plant electrical works and renewals.
  • Fault-finding and electrical maintenance activities.
  • Support delivery of EV charging infrastructure projects.
  • Work safely within rail and construction environments.

PTS Electrician (Rail)

Location: Various sites across throughout the Wales & Western region from Paddington to South Wales.

Role Type: Permanent / Long-Term Project Work

Are you a qualified Electrician looking to develop your career in the rail industry?

We are looking for motivated Electricians to support a growing portfolio of Systems Fixed Plant and Electrical Installation projects across South Wales. With numerous sites requiring additional electrical installation support, including EVCP Priority Sites throughout the Wales & Western region, this is an excellent opportunity to secure long‑term work on critical rail infrastructure projects.

Previous rail experience is preferred but not essential. Training can be provided for the right candidates, including PTS sponsorship where required. Candidates must be willing to travel and work away when project requirements dictate.

The Role

Working across a variety of rail and electrical infrastructure projects, you will be involved in:

  • Electrical installation works
  • Cable installation and containment
  • Power and lighting installations
  • Systems Fixed Plant electrical works
  • Testing and fault‑finding activities
  • Electrical maintenance and renewals projects
  • Supporting delivery of EV charging infrastructure projects
  • Working safely within rail and construction environments
Requirements
Essential
  • Qualified Electrician
  • CSCS Card
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Strong electrical installation background
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home when required
  • Commitment to working safely and following site procedures
Desirable
  • PTS (Personal Track Safety)
  • Previous rail experience
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Electrical testing and inspection experience
