Job summary

Butlin's in Skegness is seeking an experienced electrician to maintain, repair and ensure the safe operation of all electrical systems across the resort, including live shows and guest areas.

You will undertake pre-planned and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis and minor installations, ensuring compliance with BS 7671 and health and safety guidelines while supporting events and seasonal attractions.

Qualifications

  • Electrical apprenticeship completed or City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ and 18th Edition BS 7671 (2019) qualified.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in hospitality/leisure environments desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workload.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and operational demands.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair faults on electrical systems, plant and equipment across the resort.
  • Maintain electrical distribution systems, lighting, power supplies and control panels.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment and upgrades.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to guests and operations when completing works.
  • Carry out routine safety checks, testing and inspections; maintain records.
  • Support emergency lighting, fire alarm interfaces and PAT testing; follow safety procedures.
  • Liaise with contractors and oversee works carried out by third parties.
  • Provide technical advice to resort departments and support events and attractions.

Job description

As an experienced electrician, you will maintain, repair, and ensure the safe operation of all electrical systems across the resort. You will support the delivery of a safe, compliant, and high-quality environment for guests and team members by carrying out multi-skilled pre-planned and reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and breakdown repairs.

This role covers a diverse range of areas, including guest accommodation, leisure facilities, fairground areas, and back-of-house operations. You will also be responsible for the electrical integrity of our entertainment venues, ensuring all power and lighting systems are fully operational for live shows and events.

In addition to maintenance, you will undertake new works and minor installations, ensuring all projects comply with relevant health and safety guidelines, statutory acts, and regulations.

Key Information:
  • Tools: All relevant tools and equipment are provided.
  • Working Hours: A five-over-seven shift pattern, including weekends on a rota system.
General Duties & Key Accountabilities
Electrical Maintenance & Repairs
  • Diagnose and repair faults on electrical systems, plant and equipment.
  • Maintain electrical distribution systems, lighting, power supplies and control panels.
  • Support the installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment and upgrades.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to guests and operations when completing works.
Safety & Compliance

Ensure all electrical work complies with current regulations (e.g. BS 7671 Wiring Regulations).

  • Carry out routine safety checks, testing and inspections.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, testing and certification.
  • Support statutory compliance including emergency lighting, fire alarm interfaces and PAT testing.
  • Follow safe systems of work, risk assessments and permit-to-work procedures.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs and support incident response when required.
Operational Support
  • Support operational teams with electrical requirements for events, entertainment and seasonal attractions.
  • Assist with fairground and leisure electrical systems where required.
  • Liaise with contractors and oversee electrical works carried out by third parties.
  • Ensure tools, materials and parts are available and stock levels maintained.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider maintenance and facilities team.
Guest & Team Experience

Work in a professional and guest-focused manner when operating in public areas.

  • Provide technical advice and support to resort departments.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in all work areas and plant rooms.
Experience & Qualification Requirements
  • Must have undergone an electrical apprenticeship or be service trained and qualified within a recognised body (City and Guilds, Level 3 NVQ), and must be 18th Edition (Amendment 3) BS 7671 (2019) qualified.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems within hospitality, leisure or similar environments (desirable).
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise workload.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and operational demands.
