Job summary

Altera Recruitment Group supports an established operator in the energy and industrial sector in Wolverhampton, recruiting an experienced Electrician to join its maintenance team. Electrician

Altera Recruitment Group is supporting an established operator within the energy and industrial sector in the appointment of an experienced Electrician to join its maintenance team in Wolverhampton. The successful Electrician will play an important role in keeping plant and equipment operating safely and reliably, carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance, fault finding and testing across the site. This is a hands on Electrician position suited to a qualified electrician who is confident working independently, can respond effectively to changing priorities and is committed to high standards of health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete scheduled preventative maintenance and electrical inspections, identifying defects and taking appropriate action to maintain plant reliability.
• Diagnose, test and rectify electrical faults across LV systems, motors, control wiring, PLC/DCS equipment and associated plant.
• Respond safely and efficiently to breakdowns, operational issues and emergency maintenance requirements, prioritising work according to plant needs.
• Record completed maintenance activities, inspections, test results and defects accurately using the site's maintenance systems and documentation.
• Support wider site maintenance activities, including contractor coordination, planned outages, spare parts management and minor mechanical or welding tasks where required.

Candidate Requirements

• A recognised electrical apprenticeship with NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or an equivalent electrical engineering qualification.
• Practical industrial electrical maintenance experience, ideally covering LV systems, motors, control panels, PLC/DCS wiring, cable and circuit tracing and electrical fault finding.
• Ability to interpret electrical and technical drawings and use test equipment confidently when diagnosing faults and verifying systems.
• A proactive approach with the ability to work independently, manage changing priorities and communicate effectively with operations and maintenance colleagues.
• Good attention to detail, basic IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, and a strong commitment to safe working practices and site procedures.
