Job summary

Together Housing is seeking an Electrician to join the Repairs & Maintenance team. You will perform electrical repairs across tenanted and vacant properties with a customer-service driven approach, covering Blackburn, Clitheroe, Rossendale and Pendle areas.

The role requires relevant electrical qualifications, a full UK driving licence, and a focus on completing repairs efficiently and safely. A company van is provided, with pension and generous annual leave benefits.

Qualifications

• Electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical Installations or equivalent)
• Knowledge of BS7671:2018 requirements for Electrical Installations
• Inspection, Testing & Certification qualification – City & Guilds 2391/2394/2395 or equivalent
• Full UK Manual driving licence
• Experience as Electrician/Electrical Technician with related building trades
• Relevant post-qualification experience
• Experience in customer service environment
• Experience maximizing number of jobs completed and repairs per visit

Responsibilities

• Carry out all types of electrical repairs to tenanted and vacant properties per tickets and schedules.
• Aim to complete repairs in one visit with high workmanship quality.
• Organise work to minimise lost time and reallocate tasks as needed.
• Participate in standby/call-out rota as requested by manager.
• Diagnose issues and obtain approvals for more expensive or longer repairs.
• Maintain high service standards and safe working practices in a team setting

Requirements

Outline of Key responsibilities of the Electrician…

• To carry out all types of Electrical repairs to both tenanted and vacant properties in accordance with job tickets, opti-time appointment slots, specifications and contract drawings, to good practice, Building Regulations etc as appropriate and applicable.
• To carry out work with an ethos of “Right First Time” always completing a repair where practicable in one visit, with good quality workmanship and good standard of performance.
• To organise your work to minimise lost or non-productive time, highlighting pro-actively if you have too much / too little work so that work can be re-allocated, extra work allocated etc as appropriate.
• To assist in addressing the peaks and troughs in workload by working overtime and at other times when requested by prior arrangement with your manager. To participate in a stand-by or call-out rota.
• To use your initiative to diagnose and undertake a repair which may be different from the job required or where the job required was of a locate fault type nature. Obtaining approval beforehand as appropriate where the job is more expensive than anticipated, will take much longer than anticipated etc.
• To work to a consistently high standard of workmanship in line with service specification, service standards, safe working procedures and as part of a team to ensure the most efficient use of time, materials and resources etc.

We are looking for someone who has…

• Electrical qualification – NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical Installations or equivalent
• Knowledge of BS7671:2018 requirements for Electrical Installations
• Inspection, Testing & Certification qualification – City & Guilds 2391 / 2394 / 2395 or equivalent
• Full UK Manual drivers licence
• Experience of working competently in all disciplines normally expected of a qualified Electrician/ Electrical Technician along with other associated building disciplines as required and as appropriate
• Relevant post qualification experience
• Experience of working in a customer service environment
• Experience of maximising number of jobs completed and repairs completed in one visit.

Benefits

In return, we are offering the successful candidate in the Electrician role...

• Starting salary: £37,977 per annum
• Company van available for personal use
• 27 days annual leave (rising to 32 over 5 years’ service) + bank holidays
• You will work a total of 37 hours per week, scheduled between 08:00 and 19:30 across any five days from Monday to Saturday. The exact schedule will depend on business needs at the time. However, to give an idea, a typical working week may be Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 16:00 and Friday from 08:00 to 15:30. Please note that this is subject to change based on business requirements.
• This role includes working one Saturday per month, with time off in lieu offered in return.
• Additional earning due to call out rota.
