Job summary

Scottish Power Transmissions is seeking an Electrician on a 12‑month initial contract to join their team and work across central Scotland. You will construct, maintain and repair LV electrical installations in substations with a focus on safety and reliability.

The role requires site authorisations and a full UK driving license, with a rate negotiable based on experience. The position is full time, Monday to Friday, at sites across central Scotland.

Qualifications

• Must hold Scottish Power site authorisations and have electrician/substation experience.
• Must hold a full UK driving license.

Responsibilities

• Construct, maintain and repair LV installations in substations.
• Carry out fault finding, testing and installation work to required standards.
• Oversee safety on site and manage time sheets and records.
• Liaise with energy networks and supervise contractors when required.
• Plan jobs, obtain materials, and coordinate equipment for works.
• Ensure compliance with 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

The Position

To construct, maintain and repair LV electrical installations in compliance with 18th Edition Wiring Regulations

The work of an Electrician typically consists of maintenance, repair testing and installation of LV substation building supplies such as replacing faulty heaters, lights, PAT testing, Electrical installation condition report ( EICR) of building supplies, substation re wiring, emergency lighting maintenance and lighting/compound lighting upgrades, etc

Key Responsibilities

• To effectively deliver all works to agreed productivity levels.
• Carry out effective fault management to ensure delivery of unit cost requirements.
• Undertake and develop appropriate skills associated with work in substations.
• Contributes as effective member of Energy Networks
• Supervision of Contractors
• Data capture including time sheets and as built records
• Ensure all site works carried out safely, including acting as the nominated person in charge of safety for the duration of all works attended whilst ensuring all network operations are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with company policy and safety rules.
• Strives to eliminate customer complaints as an on-site representative of the company
• Perform stand-by duties as agreed with the company.

Requirements

• Applicants must currently hold Scottish Power site authorisations, with experience working as an electrician, or on electrical works on substations
• The post holder must also hold a full UK driving license
