Job summary

Together Housing is seeking an Electrician to join our Repairs & Maintenance team. You will provide electrical repairs to tenanted and vacant properties in Blackburn, Clitheroe, Rossendale and Pendle area, delivering a customer service driven repair service.

We value qualifications including NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical Installations, BS7671 knowledge, and City & Guilds testing qualifications, plus a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

  • Electrical qualification – NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical Installations or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of BS7671:2018 requirements for Electrical Installations.
  • Inspection, Testing & Certification qualification – City & Guilds 2391 / 2394 / 2395 or equivalent.
  • Full UK Manual driving licence.
  • Experience of working competently in all disciplines normally expected of a qualified Electrician/Electrical Technician.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out all types of Electrical repairs to tenanted and vacant properties in line with tickets, appointments, specifications and contract drawings.
  • Aim for Right First Time, completing a repair in one visit where practicable.
  • Organise work to minimise downtime and proactively reallocate extra work as needed.
  • Work overtime / standby rota as required by the manager.
  • Diagnose and undertake repairs even when the job differs from the requirement, seeking approvals for more expensive work.
  • Maintain high workmanship standards aligned with service specs and safety procedures.

We are looking for a Electrician to join our Repairs & Maintenance team. As an Electrician you will provide all types of Electrical repairs, to tenanted and vacant properties, with a customer service quality driven repair and maintenance service. In this role you will be covering a number of areas, including Blackburn, Clitheroe, Rossendale and Pendle area.

Requirements
Outline of Key responsibilities of the Electrician…
  • To carry out all types of Electrical repairs to both tenanted and vacant properties in accordance with job tickets, opti-time appointment slots, specifications and contract drawings, to good practice, Building Regulations etc as appropriate and applicable.
  • To carry out work with an ethos of “Right First Time” always completing a repair where practicable in one visit, with good quality workmanship and good standard of performance.
  • To organise your work to minimise lost or non-productive time, highlighting pro-actively if you have too much / too little work so that work can be re-allocated, extra work allocated etc as appropriate.
  • To assist in addressing the peaks and troughs in workload by working overtime and at other times when requested by prior arrangement with your manager. To participate in a stand-by or call-out rota.
  • To use your initiative to diagnose and undertake a repair which may be different from the job required or where the job required was of a locate fault type nature. Obtaining approval beforehand as appropriate where the job is more expensive than anticipated, will take much longer than anticipated etc.
  • To work to a consistently high standard of workmanship in line with service specification, service standards, safe working procedures and as part of a team to ensure the most efficient use of time, materials and resources etc.
We are looking for someone who has…
  • Electrical qualification – NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical Installations or equivalent
  • Knowledge of BS7671:2018 requirements for Electrical Installations
  • Inspection, Testing & Certification qualification – City & Guilds 2391 / 2394 / 2395 or equivalent
  • Full UK Manual drivers licence
  • Experience of working competently in all disciplines normally expected of a qualified Electrician/ Electrical Technician along with other associated building disciplines as required and as appropriate
  • Relevant post qualification experience
  • Experience of working in a customer service environment
  • Experience of maximising number of jobs completed and repairs completed in one visit.

  • Starting salary: £37,977 per annum
  • Company van available for personal use
  • 27 days annual leave (rising to 32 over 5 years’ service) + bank holidays
  • You will work a total of 37 hours per week, scheduled between 08:00 and 19:30 across any five days from Monday to Saturday. The exact schedule will depend on business needs at the time. However, to give an idea, a typical working week may be Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 16:00 and Friday from 08:00 to 15:30. Please note that this is subject to change based on business requirements.
  • This role includes working one Saturday per month, with time off in lieu offered in return.
  • Additional earning due to call out rota.
