Job summary

Hexcel, a global leader in advanced composites, is recruiting an Electrician for its Duxford, UK site. You will install, maintain and repair electrical systems across manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company standards.

The role requires formal electrical apprenticeship and relevant certifications, plus hands-on experience with industrial electrical plant. You will read schematics, perform inspections, and respond to breakdowns to keep production lines

Qualifications

• Completed an electrical or engineering apprenticeship and relevant certifications.
• Qualified for 18th Edition BS 7671 and inspection/testing as specified.
• Experience with large industrial electrical plants and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, fixtures, and systems.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and wiring diagrams.
• Inspect electrical systems to identify faults, hazards, and defects.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical circuits and systems, resolving issues.
• Ensure electrical systems operate safely, efficiently and compliant with regulations.
• Test and commission new electrical systems to verify safety and stability.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and restore electrical systems.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and materials used.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams on safety and project activity.

Qualifications

• Completed a recognised Electrical or Engineering Apprenticeship.
• NVQ Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services (C&G 2357/5357).
• Achievement Measurement 2 (AM2) certification.
• Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) qualification.
• C&G 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification (desirable).
• HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering (desirable).
• CompEx certification (desirable).
• Experience in the operation and maintenance of large industrial electrical plant and equipment.
• Knowledge of industry-standard risk assessment methodologies, including HAZOP and FMEA.
• Understanding of industrial process safety and manufacturing operational safety requirements, with the ability to apply relevant procedures and regulatory standards.
