Job summary

AC Corporation is seeking an Electrical Journeyman to lead apprentices and mechanics while working under an Electrical Foreman. You will install, test, locate, and repair electrical wiring, systems and fixtures, ensuring correct installation and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of electrical experience.
• Interpret mechanical, plumbing and structural drawings.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Professional written and verbal communication.
• Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Understand safety requirements and OSHA guidelines.
• Read and understand blueprints, drawings and manuals accurately.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Direct apprentices and mechanics under supervision.
• Install, test, locate, and repair electrical wiring and fixtures.
• Verify correct installation; may oversee the project in Foreman's absence.
• Plan layout and install materials and equipment.
• Connect power cables and install grounding leads.
• Test continuity of circuits to ensure safety and compatibility.

Primary Purpose

Electrical Journeyman is a leadership role that directs apprentices and mechanics while still under the supervision of an Electrical Foreman. This role is responsible for successfully installing, testing, locating, and repairing electrical wiring, system and fixtures. Responsible for verifying correct installation and may be required to oversee the project in the absence of the Foreman.

Typical Duties

• Give and follow specific directions
• Inspect completed work for compliance and specifications.
• Mentor and assist lower-level electricians.
• Plan layout and install materials and/or equipment required by job.
• Connect power cables to equipment and install grounding leads.
• Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components.
• Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
• Repair faulty equipment or systems.
• Understand and comply with company/job safety requirements.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment.

Required Skills/Abilities

• General understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC)
• Ability to read blueprints
• Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools
• Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of electrical experience

• Can communicate and give written instruction in a professional manner
• Comfortable with MS Office (EXCEL, Word, Outlook)
• Thorough understanding of safety requirements and OSHA guidelines
• Able to readand understand blueprints, sketches, labels, job site maps/directions, instruction manuals and written instructions accurately
• Must be high school graduate or hold G.E.D.
• Must have valid driver's license.
