Job summary

JC Portable Site Accommodation Ltd. in Chichester, West Sussex, is seeking an experienced Electrician for full-time electrical fit-out in modular buildings across the UK.

You will install, wire, test, and commission electrical systems in our modern facilities and on client sites. The role requires a minimum 3 years PQE, BS 7671 (18th Edition), NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations, and willingness to travel UK-wide with DBS check and UK driving license.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience in commercial/industrial or modular installations.
• Fully qualified with NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent.
• Current BS 7671 (18th Edition) certification.

Responsibilities

• Install & fit out electrical systems in modular buildings, including consumer units, wiring, lighting, and power outlets.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specs for compliant setups.
• Test, inspect, and commission installations and sign off in line with BS 7671 and QA standards.
• Maintain and repair electrical systems in factory and on UK customer sites.
• Keep detailed records, test certificates, and report defects promptly.
• Care for tools, calibration certificates, and equipment; uphold safety and quality standards.
• Ensure work meets quality targets and supports production schedules and deadlines.

Job Description

Reports to: Site Manager

Location: Chichester, West Sussex (with UK-wide site work)

Salary: £46,800– £58,500 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)

Hours: Full Time – Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 4:30pm (45 hours per week)

About the role

Are you an experienced, fully qualified Electrician who takes pride in installing safe, high-quality, and compliant electrical systems? Join our growing modular building manufacturing and installation team, where you will bring vital power, lighting, and systems to life. In this role, you will be responsible for the full electrical fit-out, containment, wiring, inspection, and testing within our modern modular and portable buildings.

You will work within our advanced manufacturing facility and support installation projects on customer sites throughout the UK. Key Responsibilities

• Install & fit out: Set up complete electrical systems within modular buildings, including consumer units, internal/external wiring, lighting, heating systems, and power outlets.
• Technical accuracy: Read and confidently interpret electrical drawings, schematics, technical specifications, and installation layouts to ensure precise and compliant setups.
• Test & commission: Carry out periodic inspection, testing, and verification of electrical installations (where qualified/certified). Safely sign off work in strict accordance with current BS 7671 regulations and company quality standards.
• Maintain & repair: Undertake electrical modifications, fault-finding, maintenance, and repairs both in our manufacturing factory and on customer sites across the UK.
• Records & reporting: Maintain accurate records of completed work, test certificates, and report any installation issues or defects immediately.
• Tools & equipment care: Ensure all tools, plant, testing equipment, and calibration certificates are maintained, inspected, and stored correctly.
• Quality of work: Aim for a "right first time" standard to minimise snagging, defects, and call-backs, while keeping accurate records of your completed work.
• Collaborate & support: work closely with supervisors and colleagues to hit production schedules and meet crucial customer deadlines.
• Safety & housekeeping: work safely in line with Company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality systems. This includes maintaining excellent housekeeping standards in the workshop and on sites, looking after your tools, participating in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and immediately reporting hazards, near misses, or unsafe conditions.

Requirements

• Experience: minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) within commercial, industrial, or modular installations.
• Qualifications: fully qualified status with a recognized NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations / Electrotechnical Technology (or equivalent)
• Current Regulations: active and valid BS 7671 (18th Edition) Certification (City & Guilds 2382).
• Ability to read and autonomously interpret technical drawings, installation specifications, and electrical schematics.
• Willingness to travel and work on customer sites throughout the UK, including occasional overnight stays.
• Successful completion of a DBS Check and legal Right to Work in the UK.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Successful completion of the AM2 assessment.
• Valid ECS (Electrotechnical Certification Scheme) Gold Card (or willingness to obtain one prior to / shortly after starting).
• Inspection & Testing Certification: City & Guilds 2391 or 2392 (Initial Verification and/or Periodic Inspection and Testing).
• Experience within modular construction or off-site manufacturing
