Job summary

ABM is seeking a General Electrician to provide multi-site coverage in Belfast, performing planned maintenance, visual inspections and minor electrical tasks. The role requires mobility across a large site and adherence to safety standards.

Salary is £38,000 per annum with a Monday–Friday 40-hour week. You will manage workloads via a PDA and respond to priority tasks promptly, ensuring quality and compliance across client sites.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Electrical Installation and 18th Edition wiring regs required.
• Proven experience as Electrician addressing breakdowns and remedial works.
• Full clean driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) check on electrical systems and equipment.
• Conduct visual inspections to identify defects, wear, damage or safety hazards.
• Complete basic fault finding and carry out minor repairs.
• Replace lamps, switches, sockets and minor components; tighten connections.
• Record findings and actions using maintenance systems or logbooks.
• Liaise with on-site contractors to coordinate information and communication.
• Monitor contractor activities to ensure safety and standards.
• Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations.
• Escalate major faults requiring specialist intervention.
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe condition.
• Support other maintenance activities as needed.

LOCATION: Belfast BT3 9DZ

SHIFT PATTERN: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, 08:00~16:30

SALARY: £38,000 per annum

Purpose: To provide multi-site coverage, attending to breakdowns, completing EICR remedials, and engaging in planned preventative maintenance across client sites. The General Electrician will play a vital role in maintaining the electrical systems at our client sites. This diverse role encompasses tasks such as high bay internal light repairs, external lighting repairs, and addressing EICR code 1 & 2 issues. Successful candidates must meet response time requirements for priority tasks, utilise a PDA for task management, and take ownership of managing their workload efficiently

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a reliable and proactive Electrician tosupport maintenance operations across a large, busy site. The role involves carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), routine visual inspections, and minor electrical maintenance tasks. Due to the size of the site, the position requires a high level of mobility, with significant walking between locations.

• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) checkson electrical systems and equipment in line with schedules.
• Conduct visual inspectionsto identify defects, wear, damage, or safety hazards.
• Complete basic fault findingand carry out minor repairs where appropriate.
• Undertake small maintenance tasks, including:
  • Replacing lamps, switches, sockets, and minor components
  • Tightening connections and carrying out basic adjustments
  • General upkeep of electrical installations
• Accurately record findings, actions, and reportsusing maintenance systems or logbooks.
• Liaise with on-site contractorsto ensure relevant information is gathered, shared, and communicated effectively between teams.
• Monitor contractor activities where required to ensure work aligns with site standards and safety procedures.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety regulationsand site procedures.
• Escalate major faults or issues requiring specialist intervention.
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition.
• Support other maintenance activities when required.

Essential Criteria:

• City & Guilds Level 3 Award in Electrical Installation & City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

Desired Experience:

• Proven experience as a Electrician, with a track record of successfully addressing breakdowns, electrical installation tasks and remedial works.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, regulations, and safety standards.
• Familiarity with using a Personal Digital Assistant for task management and reporting.
• Ability to meet response time requirements for priority tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to manage workload independently and efficiently.
• Experience working within a results-oriented environment.
• Time spent in a customer service environment.
• Full clean driving licence.
