Job description
Overview

Electrically biased Maintenance Engineer required for a manufacturing company based in Gillingham. Full-time role with a treble shift pattern (W1: 06:00–14:30, W2: 01:45–22:15, W3: 22:00–06:30). Salary: £47,500 per year.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on production machinery to ensure optimal performance and reduce downtime.
  • Diagnose and repair equipment faults quickly to minimise operational disruption.
  • Conduct quality inspections to ensure high manufacturing standards are met.
  • Collaborate with senior production team members to identify maintenance needs and process improvements.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Work with the purchasing department to order necessary spare parts and maintain minimum stock levels for critical components.
  • Coordinate calibration of production measuring equipment and maintain records for ISO audits and compliance.
  • Assist in special assignments or projects as directed by the Production Manager to improve machine performance, process efficiency, safety and quality.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Educational background: ideally a qualification in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, or appropriate apprenticeship.
  • Certifications: ideally 18th Edition Electrical Course or equivalent.
  • Experience: proven experience in a maintenance role.
  • Technical knowledge: strong electrical and mechanical knowledge including motors, drives, gearboxes, pneumatics and PLC systems.
  • Diagnostic skills: excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Physical ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication skills to collaborate effectively with teams across departments.
  • Safety knowledge: solid understanding of health and safety practices and the ability to implement safe working practices.
  • Flexibility: willingness to undertake special assignments and projects to improve operational efficiency, safety and quality.
