Job description

My client is now recruiting for a Vehicle Fitter to join their expanding team. This is an exciting time to join a company that continues to grow from strength to strength in the local area. If you have a background as a trained mechanic or have 2 years of mechanical engineering experience, then this could be just the job for you. You will also need to have 2 years of experience in automotive 12-volt and 48-volt electrical circuits. Welding would be a distinct advantage but is not essential.

Working on the front line of production, you will help maintain the high standards their customers expect. The job is challenging and interesting, with a lot of variation. Not only will you be responsible for building our own vehicles, but also for the maintenance and repair of the company rental fleet.

This is a full-time, permanent role. 39 hours per week, with 23 days holiday plus bank holidays.

Responsibilities:
  1. Actively participate in the on-the-job training program
  2. Build production vehicles as per given job cards
  3. Prepare or repair rental vehicles, as per given job cards
  4. Meet production build target hours
  5. Ensure you are aware of and comply with the company Health and Safety Policy
  6. Ensure the factory and surrounding areas are kept smart, clean, and safe
  7. Adhere to, and participate in, the company 5S program
  8. Help achieve ongoing improvements in build times and quality performance
Skills:
  1. You will have 2 years of mechanical engineering experience, gained in an automotive, power generation, aviation, or manufacturing environment.
  2. You will be experienced in electrical fault finding, repair, and general maintenance of machinery.
  3. Welding experience is an advantage, but not essential
  4. Communicate clearly on technical issues
  5. Be comfortable prioritising tasks in a changing customer-driven environment
  6. Work independently and as part of a team, when required
  7. Have a clean driving license

The role would suit a positive, can-do attitude, underpinned by an active 'roll up your sleeves' style.

If you can demonstrate the skills outlined above, then please apply. Along with a permanent, full-time Monday to Friday opportunity, you will receive a competitive salary and a discretionary company profit share. Interviews are taking place immediately.
