ABOUT THE ROLE

A BRIEF SUMMARY

As a PAT Tester, you will play a vital role in ensuring the electrical safety and compliance of all portable appliances across our Outside Broadcast Operations. You'll conduct formal inspections and testing routines, maintain accurate records, and help reduce electrical hazards in high-paced production environments.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Performing Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) on a wide range of electrical equipment, including power cables and portable devices contained within our OB trucks and loaded onto our tenders, for use on our outside broadcasts.
  • Ensuring all tested equipment is correctly labelled to include required retest date and logged, with equipment that fails test quarantined for repair or disposal.
  • Under supervision, carry out repair and fabrication of ‘small power cables’ (single phase C16 and smaller).
  • Keeping accurate records of all inspections and test results using the company’s systems.
  • Reporting and quarantining of unsafe or damaged equipment and working with the PAT Test Manager to resolve issues promptly.
  • Supporting the implementation of testing schedules to minimise disruption to operations.
  • Keeping the PAT test area clean, organised, and stocked with necessary tools and equipment.
  • Following all relevant health and safety protocols and remaining up to date with regulatory requirements.

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF

  • You are certified in PAT Testing (City & Guilds 2377 or equivalent).
  • You have hands-on experience conducting PAT tests in technical, broadcast, or similar environments.
  • You are detail-oriented and take pride in completing tasks accurately and thoroughly.
  • You’re able to work both independently and collaboratively in a high-paced operational environment.
  • You have basic IT skills and are comfortable entering data into asset tracking systems.
  • You are prepared to be flexible at times with working hours to meet our outside broadcast deliverables and occasionally travel to different sites.
  • You are safety-conscious and committed to maintaining high standards of compliance.
