Job summary

VGC Group is recruiting an Electrical Test Engineer to join our team on a major project in Leiston, Suffolk. The role covers inspection, testing, certification and ongoing compliance of temporary electrical installations on construction sites.

Basic pay rate is £26.82 per hour PAYE with enhanced rates after 39 hours. Shift is Monday to Friday, 12-hour days (07:00–19:00) with potential weekend work in the future. Start ASAP, subject to vetting.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Electrical Installation Qualification is required.
• 18th Edition Regulations knowledge required.
• 2391 City and Guilds - Level 3 certification required.
• ECS (Gold Card) is required.
• Driver's Licence required.
• IPAF Operator certification preferred.
• PASMA certification preferred.
• SSSTS or SMSTS training preferred.
• Valid CITB HSE certification desired.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, certify and ensure ongoing compliance of temporary electrical installations on construction sites.
• Ensure all temporary electrical systems are safe and compliant with BS 7671 and BS 7909 where applicable.
• Follow HSE guidance and company procedures to enable safe site operations.
• Carry out regular checks and upkeep of electrical systems to ensure safe operation.
• Identify and resolve electrical problems quickly and effectively.
• Set up new electrical systems, wiring and equipment in buildings and other structures.

Basic pay rate: £26.82per hour PAYE (enhanced rates available after 39 hours)

Start Date: ASAP, subject to gaining vetting Lodge pay is available for the successful candidate, if they meet the criteria.

As the Electrical Test Engineer, your responsibilities may include:

• Inspection, testing, certification and ongoing compliance of temporary electrical installations on construction sites.
• Ensure all temporary electrical systems are safe, compliant with BS 7671, BS 7909 (where applicable)
• Safe and compliant HSE guidance and company procedures
• Enable safe site operations throughout the construction project
• Performing regular checks and upkeep on existing electrical systems to ensure they operate safely and efficiently.
• Identifying and resolving electrical problems quickly and effectively.
• Setting up new electrical systems, wiring, and equipment in buildings and other structures.
