Compensation: £40,000 to £52,000 + Benefits + Overtime

The role

As an Electrical Test Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of commissioning and testing electrical systems on Royal Navy submarines. This is a hands-on engineering role where your expertise will directly impact national defence and maritime safety.

Day-to-day you’ll be:

  • Conducting commissioning, testing and calibration activities on submarine electrical systems
  • Supporting the Senior Test Engineer to optimise team efficiency
  • Applying nuclear safety protocols and ensuring compliance with Clyde Safety Management Arrangements
  • Producing technical documentation and test reports
  • Diagnosing electrical faults and maintaining high safety and quality standards

Essential experience of the Electrical Test Engineer

  • Strong electrical diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
  • Understanding of commissioning processes (desirable but not essential)

Qualifications for the Electrical Test Engineer

  • Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship or HNC
  • Proven experience in a relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent)

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
