About the role:
We have a great opportunity for a career-minded individual to join our Northeast Water Productions Area team as an Electrical Technician at Bourne End Sewage Treatment Works - SL8 5NT.

As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our Water treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical and some mechanical equipment.

You will also be working in a multi-discipline team and will be responsible for carrying out scheduled, unscheduled and emergency maintenance work on Electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.

What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician

  • Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs in a timely and efficient manner to avoid interruptions to the process.
  • This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
  • You will be expected to provide technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
  • Examples of equipment that you will be working on will be motors, gearboxes, various conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
Base Location: Bourne End STW - SL8 5NT
Working Pattern: 38 Hours Monday- Friday 7:30 am – 15:36pm plus standby & overtime opportunity increasing earning by a potential £8-£10k.
All PPE, tools, van and fuel card are provided.

What you should bring to the role
  • NVQ or C&G level 3 in Electrical Engineering is essential.
  • 18th Edition qualification is desirable, but training can be provided.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety policies are required.
  • Significant experience in electrical systems ideally working in an industrial environment, or water industry preferably.
  • A valid driving license is required as frequent travel is required within the Northeast Water productions Area.

  • Take Ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to fully understand the problem, and identifying the best solution to resolve it the first time.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, to interact with the team.
  • Teamwork – We are one team, and our end goals are the same.
  • Proactive – take the lead on recommendations and improvements around the site and communicate effectively.
  • Must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards.

  • Competitive salary up to £39,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.
  • Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

  • Contributory pension – Defined Contribution - Maximum of 12% -2x employee contribution.
