Job summary

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust seeks an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician stepping into a leadership role within Estates. You will lead electrical craftspeople, perform planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, and installations across our healthcare estate.

You’ll ensure HTM and Trust policy compliance, supervise contractors, mentor apprentices, and participate in on-call shifts to support patient care. The Trust offers flexible working and NHS pension benefits.

• Leading and supporting a team of electrical maintenance craftspeople.
• Carrying out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance on electrical systems and associated engineering plant.
• Diagnosing and resolving faults on complex LV and HV electrical systems, generators, switchgear and other critical infrastructure.
• Supporting minor works, capital projects and service improvements.
• Ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, Health Technical Memorandums (HTMs) and Trust policies.
• Supervising contractors and assisting with Permit to Work processes.
• Supporting apprentices and developing team capability through coaching and mentoring.
• Participating in the on-call rota to provide emergency support outside normal working hours.

Are you an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician looking to take the next step into a leadership role?, Working as part of our Estates service, you will lead a team of electrical craftspeople while undertaking planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, fault finding, installations and improvement projects across a diverse healthcare estate.
