Job summary

The Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Electrical Technician to maintain and repair a wide range of complex building services plant. You will work within the Estates Department, coordinating with the Maintenance Manager, estate officers, and contractors to ensure safe and continuous operation of electrical systems.

Qualifications

• Experience with maintenance and repair of complex plant and equipment.
• Ability to explain issues and solutions to staff and contractors.
• Awareness of HTM-related maintenance standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair electrical and mechanical plant across the estate.
• Liaise with maintenance team, estate officers and contractors.
• Contribute to on-call rota for out-of-hours emergencies.
• Ensure compliance with HTM 06-02 LV and HTM 06-03 HV tasks.
• Provide support to assistants and cover supervisory duties when needed.

Job description

The post holder will carry out necessary maintenance tasks to ensure the safe and continuous operation of mechanical and electrical engineering services and the building plant located in the Trust.

• The post holder will undertake specific maintenance tasks and will carry out maintenance and repair across a wide range of interconnected highly complex plant and equipment. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager.
• As an Electrical technician you will liaise with the management team on a daily basis in order to carry out work duties and report any issues. You will also liaise with all the other members of the Estates Department on a regular basis to assist each other and share knowledge.
• During your working duties you will have regular contact with all levels of staff, patients and contractors where you will be expected to explain the problems, offer solutions and be able to explain the impact of your work on their departments service delivery.
  

You will participate in an on - call rota system to provide a flexible out of hour's service throughout the night for all emergency jobs, covering all possibilities including building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing trades.

Relevant AP duties (HTM 06-02 LV / HTM 06-03 HV)

• Assisting and supporting estate officers
• Mentoring assistants and those working towards a craftsperson's role
• Cover the supervisor role when required
• Cover estate officer basic duty's when off site
• Correct attitude and mindset setting an example to the rest of the team
• Problem solving complicated electrical functions leading to a resolution
• Have/Attain detailed site knowledge and understanding of the electrical plant and equipment.
• Work closely with the estate officers in key maintenance functions to achieve compliance
• Take responsibility for completing key actions from Electrical Installation Condition Reports
