Salary Offering up to to £39,000 per annum depending on your level of experience, Plus Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training Job grade A Closing date 17/07/2025

We have a great opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to take on the important role of Electrical Technician to work of our East Hyde Sewage Treatment Works.

You will join a close-knit team which varies in age and ability, all performing at a high level. This role offers great learning potential with the ability to cross-skill into other disciplines.As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our sewage treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods.

What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician

  • Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
  • This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
  • You will be expected to provide technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
  • Examples of equipment that you will be working on will be motors, gearboxes, screw /chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
  • Participate in a standby rota following the relevant training.
  • Complete License to operate. (Operate sites and learning the water treatment processes)

Base Location: East Hyde Sewage Treatment Works - Luton - LU1 3TS

Working Pattern 38 Hours Monday- Friday 7:30 am – 15:36pm plus Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

Plus, the inclusion of a company van and fuel card.

What you should bring to the role

  • Offering up to £39,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience, Plus Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
  • 18th Edition electrical City and Guilds certification is crucial.
  • Ideally an apprenticeship with significant experience in electrical systems working in a true multi-skilled capacity.
  • NVQ or City & Guilds level 3 in mechanical engineering would also be ideal, but not essential.
  • Experience in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modifying or repairing Electrical plant equipment.
  • Ideally experience in maintaining large pumps, actuated valves, electronic control systems such as VSD and 3-phase electrical switchgear is essential.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry would benefit this role.
  • The work will require physical fitness.
  • You will need the ability to work in confined spaces and will require the completion of appropriate training for this.
