Job summary

Thames Water seeks an experienced Electrical Technician based at Maple Lodge STW in Chorleywood to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and electrical equipment with minimal supervision and a focus on site reliability. You will contribute to reducing environmental impact and ensuring customers receive consistent service.

The role offers 38 hours per week, Mon-Fri, with standby and potential overtime.

Qualifications

• You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical/electrical systems or with NVQ or C&G level 3 in electrical engineering.
• 18th Edition preferred, but training can be given.
• A problem solver, able to identify potential issues and implement solutions, or elevate if required.
• An excellent communicator, providing technical expertise to Internal and External staff and contractors.
• Resilient, adapting to the pressures of work and working in a constantly changing environment.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision, under own initiative to design and standards.
• Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety of yourself, colleagues, contractors and visitors, following Thames Water guidelines.
• Undertake reactive and planned maintenance, respond to alarms and fault find, and install/repair plant and equipment as required.
• Record work and asset information to improve performance and raise issues for resolution.
• Provide specialist technical advice and coach staff, including apprenticeship programmes.
• Deliver excellent customer experience and maintain professional interactions with internal and external customers.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician based at our wastewater treatment site at Maple Lodge STW.

As a successful candidate, you will be using your electrical knowledge as well as your experience to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as appropriate, mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment, in a safe, efficient, timely and effective manner with minimum supervision, allowing us to ensure that all of our sites remain operational for the benefit of our customers.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact, and you will be actively helping to reduce pollution from our sites.

What you'll be doing as the Electrical Technician

• Ensuring the health, safety and well-being of yourself, colleagues, contractors, and visitors is always my top priority by always displaying the correct behaviours by complying with the Health and Safety at Work regulations and Thames Water's Health and Safety guidelines.
• Undertaking both reactive and planned maintenance, responding to alarms and fault finding to identify issues, fix these or elevate, planned maintenance of plant and equipment on a daily basis, installing new plant and equipment as required in line with current Standards and Regulations.
• Record work and asset information to improve business performance, along with identifying possible future risks and recommending changes in the course of your day-to-day work and to raise these for resolution as required.
• Provide specialist technical advice where appropriate, with up-to-date technical knowledge, along with coaching, training and developing staff under their supervision, including the apprenticeship programme
• Delivering excellent customer experience and positively contributing to overall customer satisfaction. Interacting with all our customers (internal & external) in a timely, professional, efficient, respectful, and polite manner.

Base Location: Maple Lodge STW - WD3 9SQ

38 hours per week, Monday-Friday.7:30 am -3:36 pm plus Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase the earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training

All PPE, tools, plus the provision of a Van when on duty and on call.
