For BWGM, Binnies are currently looking for Electrical Supervisors to cover the Southern Water region. You will be expected to have a full understanding of the construction of electrical, mechanical, civil and process elements of the project. From planning stage, through construction and up to commissioning.
The overall purpose of this role is to supervise and lead site-based staff throughout their day to day work to achieve completion of projects as set out by the customer.
This role will support the Site Managers to drive service delivery which will be recognised by the client and ensure key performance targets are maintained. This will be done by following key points below:
- Work closely with the Site Manager on all operational activities.
- To plan work for, and supervise, the Projects team and any sub-contractors to ensure work is completed to a defined standard, within agreed time and budget.
- Proactively liaise with Project Engineers to prioritise work fronts.
- Ensure adherence to all Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Promote and maintain safety and follow established work practices, whilst controlling environmental impacts and complying with legislative responsibilities.
- Day to day line management responsibilities for Projects craft persons including holidays, training, performance and timesheets etc.
- Responsible for daily delivery of site-based activities as per Programme.
- Actively participate in Daily Site Briefings.
- Ensure correct permits are in place where required and associated documentation is completed to a high standard.
- Ensure a high standard of productivity is realised on site activities with efficient planning of labour, plant and materials.
- Ensure adequate requirements are in place to deliver with zero incidents, on time, with zero defects and within customer compliance targets.
- Support Construction Manager in day to day activities, achieve adequate understanding of role to deputise when required.
- Creation of any required Risk Assessments and Method Statements ensuring suitable revision and review is applied pre and post job completion.
- Drive towards right first-time vision, continued job review and lessons learnt application.
- Attend meetings with adequate level of detail to provide sufficient and satisfactory updates to the client.
- Build strong client relationships.
- Ensuring all weekly and monthly internal and external deadlines are met, and when asked prepare detailed reports to substantiate the figures.
- Work with Planning Engineer to ensure performance indicators are created, shared and utilised to drive performance.
- Work with Planning Engineer and Site Manager to ensure sufficient and deliverable work fronts are available at all times.
- Ensure a clear succession plan is in place. Knowledge share and mentor direct reports with a view to enhancing their skill sets and experience.
- Consistently promote high standards through personal example, understanding the bWGM vision and values and what is expected of your team.
- Managing and coaching individual’s performance with the ability to manage a variety of cross functional team members.
- Ensure working compliance to bWGM Electrical Safety Rules on site.
- Expected to train to Approved Person (AP) level in relation to Electrical Safety Rules (ESR) and Isolation Safety Rules (ISR) where appropriate to the role.
- To carry out the duties of the Approved Person (AP), meeting the respective technical standard.
Qualifications/Experience
- Relevant engineering degree or HND, BTec, professional level 5 award or equivalent NVQ level 5 qualification.
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card Holder.
- Valid SSSTS or SMTS.
- Temporary Works Supervisor certification.
- Proven experience in a supervisory role.
- Experience in safety management controls for construction works in general site conditions.
- Background in Electrical Engineering
- Experience of MS Project and or P6 Primavera planning software.
- Clear understanding of NEC form of contract is preferable.
- A sound understanding on planned preventative maintenance.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good IT skills including a working knowledge of Excel and Word.
- Previous experience in Water/Waste Water is desirable.
