Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to manage and oversee electrical installations across diverse and high-security environments. The ideal candidate will bring Ministry of Justice (MoJ) experience and a strong background working with MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) contractors.
Responsibilities
- Supervise on-site electrical work, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and compliance.
- Coordinate and liaise with MEP contractors, subcontractors, and project managers to ensure seamless delivery.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of electrical teams, including conducting inductions, daily briefings, toolbox talks, and managing site labor.
- Manage workflow logistics—mobilizing materials, hiring plant equipment (e.g., cherry pickers, scaffolding), and ensuring accurate paperwork (RAMS, permits, diaries).
- Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols, risk assessments, and statutory regulations.
- Act as primary point of contact for stakeholders and clients on-site, maintaining strong professional relationships.
- Support the MEP Project Manager by providing technical guidance, reporting progress, and contributing input on timelines or changes.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Prior MoJ experience—for example, working in custodial or prison environments—or familiarity with Ministry of Justice standards, procedures, and security requirements.
- Meaningful experience with MEP contractors, demonstrating strong coordination and integration skills across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines.
- Recognized electrical qualifications, such as NVQ Level 3 or 4 and BS7671 (18th Edition).
- Possession of relevant site certification, e.g., Gold CSCS card, SSSTS, NICEIC, and/or equivalent supervisory or safety qualifications.
- Track record of supervising medium-to-large-scale electrical installations or M&E projects.
- Proficiency in administrative tools such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and familiarity with procurement or project documentation systems.
Desirable Attributes
- A clean UK driving licence (for roles requiring travel between sites).
- Valid DBS check or willingness to undergo relevant clearance.
- Strong leadership and communication skills—capable of effectively mentoring teams and addressing performance issues.
- Excellent organizational skills, including prioritizing tasks, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and driving timely delivery.
