- The Property Department, through its Infrastructure Engineering team, is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the Bank's built environment. This includes the provision of resilient and high-quality engineering services that support business continuity and operational excellence.
- In addition to supporting the Bank’s primary functions, the department oversees significant capital investment projects and is responsible for a wide range of services including strategic health and safety management, facilities management (reception, help desk, catering, cleaning, post), and travel services.
- Our mission is to maintain, enhance, and protect the Bank’s facilities, including all engineering systems, ensuring operational resilience across the estate.
- The Engineering Team, comprising approximately 56 FTEs, supports three critical properties:
- These sites house various levels of critical systems, including office, data centre, and production environments, requiring round-the-clock engineering support.
Job Description – Shift Technician
- As a Shift Technician, you will play a vital role in delivering engineering services across the Bank’s estate. Your responsibilities will include both planned and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring 24/7/365 operational functionality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) using the Planon Intelligent Work Management System (IWMS).
- Respond to and resolve reactive maintenance tasks issued via the IWMS.
- Perform daily and periodic system and equipment checks to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and repair engineering faults, setting priority levels to ensure safe and efficient recovery.
- Maintain a range of building systems including HVAC, electrical, public health, fire safety, and other essential services.
- Support statutory and compliance testing, including life safety and critical asset systems.
- Collaborate with OEM contractors during routine, reactive, and emergency maintenance.
- Provide accurate updates and data to support the Shift Leader in producing daily handover reports.
- Operate as an Authorised Person (LV – Electrical and/or Mechanical) in accordance with the Bank's Safe System of Work (SSoW).
- Complete annual training and performance objectives.
- Promote and maintain a safe working environment, acting as a Health & Safety ambassador.
- Ensure all tasks meet agreed SLAs, risk assessments, and customer service standards.
- Foster teamwork and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Participate in the weekly on-call rota and support incident management exercises.
Essential Qualifications & Certifications:
- City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
- IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to achieve Security Check (SC) Clearance (provided by the Bank).
Technical Experience:
- Familiarity with IWMS platforms (preferably Planon) and use of handheld HMI devices.
- Hands-on experience with HVAC, BMS, electrical, public health, and life safety systems.
- Experience as an Authorised Person (AP) in HV or LV systems.
- Operation within a formal Safe System of Work.
- Understanding of statutory obligations and compliance related to building systems.
- Ability to interpret complex MEP drawings and system schematics.
