Job summary

EQUANS is seeking an Electrical Shift Building Maintenance Engineer to join our facilities team at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. This role is permanent, full-time, with a 4 on/4 off shift pattern and an average of 38.5 hours per week.

You will be responsible for safe operation, planned and reactive maintenance of mechanical/electrical systems, upgrades, and coordination of subcontractors in a hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship or equivalent electrical qualification.
• Level 2/3 in an electrical discipline with 18th Edition certification.
• Ability to read technical drawings and diagnose faults.
• Experience in building services installation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of mechanical/electrical systems across the site.
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, including installations and refurbishment works.
• Carry out mechanical/electrical repairs and cleaning of components and equipment.
• Maintain HVAC systems, gas appliances, Piped Medical Gas systems, steam plant and related equipment.
• Prepare pressure vessels for insurance inspections and carry out required repairs/testing.
• Oversee specialist sub-contractors and manage contractors to a safe permit-to-work regime.
• Ensure PPM and reactive tasks meet contract timescales at all times.
• Work an average of 38.5 hours per week on a 4 on/4 off shift pattern (07:00–19:00 / 19:00–07:00) with a 1 hour break.
