Job summary

Reed Specialist Recruitment is seeking an experienced Electrical Shift Engineer for a major manufacturing site in Middleton. You will perform electrical maintenance on production machinery, execute advanced fault-finding, and drive reliable operation across shifts.

The role requires 18th Edition wiring regs, ONC or equivalent, and strong PLC/distance drive knowledge with MMS systems. You’ll work in a team to meet deadlines and minimise downtime.

Qualifications

• Must hold the 18th Edition IET wiring regulations certification.
• Qualified to a minimum of ONC or equivalent in a relevant field.
• Extensive experience in safety circuit fault finding and diagnosis.
• Proficient in computer usage and capable of managing work orders through an MMS system.
• Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to tasks.
• Excellent prioritisation skills and the ability to work to strict deadlines.
• A good work ethic, reliability, and a strong commitment to the company are essential.

Responsibilities

• Conduct electrical maintenance and repairs on production machinery to ensure continuous operation.
• Perform advanced fault-finding and diagnostics on electrical systems.
• Work with 3 phase motor control circuits, relay logic and control, and PLC fault diagnosis.
• Handle AC & DC variable speed drives, including fault finding on drives and drive control circuits.
• Utilize knowledge of sensors (proximity, optical, etc.) and control systems (Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Telemecanique).
• Read and interpret electrical drawings accurately.
• Process work orders through the MMS system, ensuring efficient workflow management.
• Prioritise tasks effectively, especially when faced with conflicting work priorities.
• Work flexibly within the team to meet strict deadlines and minimise downtime.

Job Type: Full-time, Shift Rotation (Monday to Friday: 6-2, 2-10, 10-6)

Salary up to £48,000

We are seeking a time-served Electrical Shift Engineer to provide essential electrical maintenance on their production machinery. This role demands a high level of fault-finding experience and a strong electrical background. The ideal candidate will be able to work safely, independently, and possess some mechanical knowledge.
