Role - Electrical Senior Design Engineer

Location - Warrington (Other locations may be considered)

Purpose of the role:

As an Electrical Senior Design Engineer, you will be a key member of the Engineering Design Team, working with Principal Engineers, Design Teams, and Managers to deliver high-quality designs in compliance with GT processes, BMS, and H&S Regulations. This technical role involves direct project engagement, requiring expertise in water and wastewater industry design. You may have line management responsibilities for design engineers and other team members.

You will contribute to engineering governance, ensure design integration across disciplines, support procurement and site activities, and mentor early-career engineers.

What will you be doing:

  • Ensuring technical compliance and quality of design outputs.
  • Leading discipline-specific project design activities.
  • Seeking cost-effective design solutions.
  • Ensuring CDM regulations compliance.
  • Designing for buildability and safety.
  • Adhering to procedural governance.
  • Ensuring designs meet client specifications and standards.
  • Complying with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Promoting innovation and digital design.
  • Problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Supporting pre-contract design activities.
  • Sharing lessons learned and mentoring team members.
  • Managing and developing design engineers.

About you:

  • Proficient in ETAP for HV & LV modelling, protection studies, load flow, and short circuit calculations.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD/Draftsight.
  • Skilled in producing electrical installation packs and layouts.
  • Knowledge of wiring regulations and compliance standards.
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent preferred.
  • Extensive experience in municipal water and wastewater industries.
  • Chartered status preferred.
  • Experience in contracting/consulting environments with commercial awareness.
  • Strong knowledge of multidisciplinary water engineering design.
  • Experience in checking and approving design packages and reviewing subcontractor documentation.
  • Knowledge of H&S legislation and British Standards.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong IT skills including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Leadership qualities to motivate and guide teams.
  • Results-oriented with a flexible attitude.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
