Job summary

Mars Petcare in Melton Mowbray is recruiting a Reliability Technician. The role focuses on reducing downtime through site-wide continuous improvement; you will lead electrical and control projects and mentor maintenance teams. 37.5 hours, Mon-Fri, with a welcome bonus and strong benefits package.

You will work with Rockwell and Schneider control systems, develop maintenance plans, and drive RCA investigations to resolve issues, while advancing your technical career within Mars University.

Qualifications

• Must have electrical and control systems expertise in FMCG environments.
• Competent in risk assessment, change control procedures and CI practices.
• Experience leading Root Cause Analysis and fault-finding to resolve issues.
• Strong knowledge of Rockwell Automation and Schneider Electric control systems/software.
• Proficient with Excel, MS Project, PI ProcessBook and SAP PM systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver projects to reduce asset criticality and improve site-wide reliability.
• Drive technical training, coaching, and knowledge sharing across engineering teams and apprentices.
• Lead and support RCA and fault-finding activities to improve plant performance.
• Act as Electrical & Controls reliability ambassador, ensuring capital project handovers and compliance.
• Support planning, technical leadership, and priorities across engineering teams.
• Ensure electrical compliance and manage contractor permits; maintain HV network safety standards.

The Role

Drive a reduction in technical downtime impacting TRS through the successful implementation of site-wide continuous improvement initiatives and targeted projects aimed at reducing asset criticality. The role will lead teams in the effective identification, planning, and delivery of improvement activities to achieve sustainable, site-wide performance enhancements.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven electrical and control systems expertise within an FMCG environment.
• Competent in risk assessment, change control procedures, and continuous improvement practices.
• Experienced in leading Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and fault-finding investigations to resolve technical issues.
• Strong working knowledge of Rockwell Automation and Schneider Electric control systems and software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, PI ProcessBook, and SAP Planned Maintenance systems.
• Qualified to minimum GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths, with C&G 2382-18 (18th Edition); 2391 Inspection & Testing desirable.
