Job description

About Assystem

At Assystem, our mission is to accelerate the energy transition worldwide. Our 8,000 Switchers blend historical engineering expertise with cutting‑edge digital technologies to drive this change. Join us in revolutionizing the energy sector and making a significant global impact.

Why Join the Community of Switchers?

Be part of one of the top three largest nuclear engineering companies globally. At Assystem, you'll contribute to groundbreaking projects that push the boundaries of innovation and engineering excellence. Join a community committed to driving forward the future of energy.

As the ElectricalQuality Management Lead, you'll play a key role in ensuring our supply chain delivers to the highest quality standards across one of Europe’s largest and most complex infrastructure projects. This will be hybrid based from both home and from the site, in Bridgwater whilst incorporating some European travel predominantly across France, Switzerland and Germany.

Working within the Quality Management Team, you'll support programme delivery by implementing effective quality assurance and quality control arrangements, overseeing contractor quality performance, and ensuring compliance with project requirements, processes, and regulatory standards.

You’ll work closely with project teams, contractors, inspection bodies, and key stakeholders to drive a culture of safe, efficient, right-first-time delivery, helping ensure quality is built into every stage of the project lifecycle.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Develop and implement project quality assurance and quality control arrangements.
  • Produce and maintain Project Quality Control Plans (PQCPs).
  • Review and monitor Contractor Quality Assurance Plans (CQAPs).
  • Lead the implementation and review of Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs).
  • Support supplier technical assessments, manufacturing surveillance, and quality release activities.
  • Manage quality-related non-conformances and drive continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate quality meetings with contractors and project stakeholders.
  • Identify audit requirements and support the resolution of audit findings.
  • Review and approve manufacturing documentation and quality records.
  • Support acceptance of End of Manufacturing, Construction and Erection Status Reports.
  • Ensure equipment and components meet quality requirements prior to release to site.
  • Build strong relationships across project teams, contractors, and inspection organisations.

We're looking for a quality professional with a strong engineering foundation who is confident working within complex, safety-critical environments and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders across the supply chain.

Essential:
  • HNC/HND or Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline, or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong engineering background, ideally within electrical systems, power distribution, or major infrastructure projects, not just solely quality-focused.
  • Knowledge of HV & LV switchboards, battery systems, UPS and inverter equipment.
  • Proven experience implementing and managing quality assurance and quality control processes.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivering results within complex, highly regulated environments.
  • Experience leading quality activities within the nuclear sector or another safety‑critical industry.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with excellent written and spoken English.
  • Experience working with diverse, multicultural teams and supply chains.
  • Willingness to be based at the Bridgwater site typically up to 3 times a week, with travel to supplier and project locations across the UK and Europe as required.
Desirable:
  • Professional accreditation or chartered status (or working towards).
  • Membership, or working towards membership, of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) and Chartered Quality Professional (CQP).
  • Commercial awareness, including supplier and contract management experience.
  • Experience engaging with regulatory bodies, such as the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR).
  • Previous experience supporting manufacturing surveillance, supplier oversight, or electrical equipment delivery within large‑scale engineering projects.
Ready to Make an Impact?

This is an opportunity to contribute to nationally significant energy infrastructure while developing your technical depth within a globally recognised engineering organisation. If you want real responsibility, exposure to complex mechanical systems, and the chance to grow within one of the world’s leading nuclear engineering companies, this role offers long-term progression and stability.

Benefits include:
