Job summary

Connolly Limited seeks an experienced Electrical Qualified Supervisor (QS) to oversee electrical work, certificates, and inspection reports for NICEIC compliance. The role focuses on governance, verification outcomes, and BS 7671 alignment across retrofit and renewable projects.

You will supervise engineers and subcontractors, review documentation, and support audits to uphold safety and quality standards. Based in Oldham, the role is on-site within the North West region.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent is required.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations required.
• Inspection & Testing Qualification (e.g., City & Guilds 2391/2394/2395) preferred.
• Experience acting as or aligned to NICEIC Qualified Supervisor desired.

Responsibilities

• Act as the company’s NICEIC Qualified Supervisor and provide day-to-day technical oversight of electrical work.
• Review, validate and sign off EICRs and certificates produced by engineers.
• Ensure all inspection, testing and verification results are correctly recorded on certificates and reports.
• Provide supervision and guidance to electricians and subcontractors per competence and risk.
• Maintain knowledge of BS 7671, NICEIC requirements, and client standards; support audits and certifications.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Electrical Qualified Supervisor (QS) to join our growing team and act as the company’s NICEIC Qualified Supervisor.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically competent electrical professional with the knowledge, experience and supervisory capability required to oversee the quality and compliance of electrical work undertaken by the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and validating certificates, inspection reports and test results produced by NICEIC 2391-qualified electrical test engineers, ensuring that verification outcomes are accurately recorded and that all work is carried out in accordance with BS 7671, NICEIC requirements, client specifications and relevant statutory obligations.

Working closely with the Electrical Manager, test engineers and delivery teams, you will provide technical oversight, adequate supervision, certification governance and audit support across electrical, retrofit and renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the company’s NICEIC Qualified Supervisor and provide day-to-day technical oversight of electrical work undertaken by the business.
• Review, validate and sign off Electrical Installation Condition Reports, Electrical Installation Certificates, Minor Works Certificates and associated test documentation produced by NICEIC 2391-qualified test engineers.
• Ensure results from inspection, testing and verification activities are accurately recorded on the correct certificates and reports.
• Assess the quality, completeness and technical accuracy of test results, observations, coding, remedial recommendations and supporting evidence.
• Provide adequate supervision and technical guidance to electricians, electrical test engineers and subcontractors in line with competence levels and the risk profile of the work being undertaken.
• Maintain strong working knowledge of BS 7671, NICEIC scheme requirements, Building Regulations where applicable and client compliance standards.
• Carry out site inspections, quality audits and electrical safety audits to verify workmanship, compliance and certification accuracy.
• Identify trends, defects, non-compliances and training needs arising from certificate reviews, audits and site inspections.
• Support the Electrical Manager in ensuring remedial works are correctly identified, prioritised, communicated and closed out.
• Prepare for and support NICEIC, MCS, client and internal audits, ensuring records, certificates, calibration details and compliance evidence are complete and available.
• Review RAMS and site safety documentation where relevant to electrical works and testing activities.
• Support Solar PV, retrofit and renewable energy projects by providing technical assurance, certification review and compliance oversight.
• Promote consistent standards of workmanship, inspection, testing, reporting and customer service across all projects.
• Ensure electrical works are delivered safely, compliantly and to the high technical standard expected of a NICEIC registered business.

What We're Looking For

Essential

• NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent recognised electrical qualification
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
• Inspection & Testing Qualification, such as City & Guilds 2391, 2394/2395, 2391-52 or equivalent
• Previous experience acting as, or working in a role aligned to, a NICEIC Qualified Supervisor
• Strong practical and theoretical knowledge of inspection, testing, verification, certification and BS 7671 requirements
• Experience reviewing EICRs, Electrical Installation Certificates, Minor Works Certificates and supporting test documentation
• Ability to provide appropriate technical supervision and guidance to qualified electrical test engineers and installation teams
• Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to challenge inaccurate certification, observations or coding where required
• Strong organisational, communication and client-facing skills
• Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable

• Current or previous acceptance as a NICEIC Qualified Supervisor
• Experience supporting NICEIC assessments, surveillance visits or client compliance audits
• Solar PV installation, testing, commissioning or compliance experience
• MCS experience and understanding of renewable energy compliance processes
• Experience within social housing, retrofit or planned maintenance sectors
• SSSTS, SMSTS, ECS/JIB card or other relevant site safety training
