Job description

Job Description

Because good projects don’t manage themselves. If you’ve ever looked at a job spec and thought, “Alright, but what’s really involved?” — you’re in the right place. This isn’t just another list of duties and acronyms. It’s a role that genuinely matters to the team, the clients, and the company’s future.

Right now, we’re helping a leading M&E contractor in Wigan find an experienced Electrical Project Manager. Someone who knows their way around commercial and industrial projects, can handle pressure, and keeps things moving when others might stall.

Job Details
  • Job Title: Electrical Project Manager
  • Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 + bonus & benefits
  • Location: Wigan
  • Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
About the Company

Our client has been delivering building management systems and M&E installations for over 25 years. Their reputation is built on long-term client relationships, consistent delivery, and a practical, no-nonsense approach. Healthcare, education, commercial, industrial — they’ve done it all, and they’ve done it well.

They’re not a faceless corporation, nor a start-up throwing things at the wall to see what sticks. They’re a solid, respected middle ground — and the kind of team you’ll enjoy working with.

Responsibilities

This is a classic boots-on-the-ground, sleeves-rolled-up role.

You’ll be responsible for managing electrical packages from project award through to completion, ensuring everything lands on time, on spec, and within budget. More than that, you’ll be the link — between the office and the site, the client and the team, the spec and the final fix. Your weekly tasks will include:

  1. Leading and coordinating electrical site teams
  2. Reviewing and interpreting technical drawings and specs
  3. Planning, programming, and monitoring progress on live projects
  4. Managing suppliers and subcontractors to ensure quality and delivery
  5. Attending client meetings and providing progress updates
  6. Managing health & safety, RAMS, and compliance requirements
  7. Supporting commercial teams with variations and cost control
  8. Working closely with other project leads across mechanical and BMS packages

Expect site visits, supplier calls, last-minute tweaks, and moments where you’ll need to keep a cool head while solving unexpected issues. You know the drill.

Skills & Experience Required
  • Solid experience managing electrical projects in M&E or BMS
  • Familiarity with commercial and industrial installations
  • Knowledge of current IEE regulations and health & safety standards
  • The ability to manage project teams and communicate clearly
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities
  • A full driving license

Formal qualifications in electrical or building services engineering are advantageous, but what matters most is your ability to make things happen and keep projects running smoothly.

Benefits
  • A competitive salary between £55,000 and £65,000
  • A bonus & benefits package that adds real value
  • A role with variety, visibility, and room to grow
  • A supportive team environment where people enjoy what they do and excel at it

There’s plenty of work in the pipeline, support when you need it, and a clear path for career development without unnecessary politics.
