Job summary

NG Bailey Group's Freedom division is recruiting an Electrical Project Manager to lead fault-related works for the Cable Engineering Services contract with Northern Powergrid. You will drive safe, efficient delivery of fault response and repair across the North-East region.

The role demands strong leadership, knowledge of LV/HV networks and a track record in regulated utilities, with a UK driving licence and a NEBOSH/IOSH qualification.

Qualifications

  • Senior operational experience in cable installation/utilities/power distribution.
  • Knowledge of LV/HV cable networks in DNO environments.
  • Experience with faults processes in regulated utilities.
  • Proven leadership and team-management skills.
  • Strong client and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Commercial awareness and experience in contract management.
  • NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent H&S qualification.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day fault works, ensuring delivery to specification, on time and within budget.
  • Lead and manage a team of Field Managers, Supervisors, Planners, Engineers and Site Operatives.
  • Act as the main operational contact with Northern Powergrid and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with HSQE policies, procedures and legal requirements.
  • Manage multiple fault projects from planning through energisation to handover.
  • Plan and allocate labour, plant and materials to meet project demands.
  • Monitor KPIs and implement improvements to meet contract targets.
  • Ensure timely RAMS and as-built documentation.
  • Liaise with authorities, subcontractors and stakeholders to support delivery.

Electrical Project Manager (Faults)
Location: North-East England
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Up to £55,000 + Car/Car Allowance + Flexible Benefits

Freedom has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Project Manager to lead the delivery of Faults work within our Cable Engineering Services contract with Northern Powergrid. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and high‑quality delivery of fault response and repair works across the region.

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:

  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations for fault works, ensuring delivery to specification, on time and within budget.
  • Lead and manage a team of Field Managers, Supervisors, Planners, Engineers and Site Operatives.
  • Act as the main operational contact with Northern Powergrid, maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with all HSQE policies, procedures and legal requirements.

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of documentation, including RAMS and as-built records.
  • Liaise with local authorities, subcontractors and key stakeholders to support delivery.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience in a senior operational role within cable installation, utilities or power distribution.
  • Strong knowledge of LV/HV cable networks, ideally within a DNO environment.
  • Understanding of faults processes within a regulated utility environment.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong client and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Good commercial awareness and contract management experience.
  • NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience working on Northern Powergrid contracts.
  • Streetworks knowledge.
  • Project Management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM).
