Electrical Project Manager

Step Solutions is supporting a well-established Tier 1 M&E Contractor with an opportunity for an Electrical Project Manager based on a newly secured project in Northampton.

To succeed in this role, you should have a proven track record in project management, particularly within the pharmaceutical or commercial sectors, or similar projects valued above £15 million. Ideally, you will have experience demonstrating responsibility for full contract management at this level.

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will provide direction and leadership to the delivery team, ensuring excellent operational performance. You will manage both directly employed and subcontracted resources, motivating them to deliver cost-effective, high-quality, customer-focused outputs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and oversee the operational project team to meet programme, cost, safety, and quality objectives.
  2. Take overall responsibility for the building services installation on your projects.
  3. Deliver quality installations aligned with client expectations, maximize profitability, and control costs while maintaining standards.
  4. Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, managing project budgets and costs effectively.
  5. Manage staff performance by defining clear roles and responsibilities.
  6. Promote health & safety at all times, identifying risks and implementing mitigation measures.
  7. Share best practices and promote innovation.
  8. Ensure a smooth final handover through effective commissioning.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • HNC/HND in Building Services or higher qualification - desirable.
  • CSCS/SMSTS certification.
  • Experience at a senior level on M&E projects, with responsibility for full contract management preferred.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels.
  • Ability to accept responsibilities and achieve project objectives timely.
  • Awareness of health and safety requirements and risk management.
  • Motivational leadership skills to inspire high-quality work and maintain client relationships, while securing new clients.
