Job summary

Altrad is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of planned intervention and upgrade works at a critical site. You will manage cost, schedule and quality while upholding nuclear safety, security and environmental standards.

The role requires active SC clearance or the ability to obtain it, with a strong background in delivering electrical projects using NEC4 contracts. You will supervise design through commissioning, drive objectives, and maintain stakeholder collaboration

Qualifications

  • Active SC clearance or ability to obtain SC clearance.
  • Hands-on consultancy and/or construction background with 5+ years delivery experience, including 5 years in a management role.
  • Experience of infrastructure works, built environment.
  • Proven experience managing electrical projects from design through to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the coordinated delivery of the scheduled programme of intervention and upgrade works.
  • Manage NEC4 contracts to maintain productive relationships and control costs.
  • Oversee cost, schedule and quality to meet safety, security and environmental standards.
  • Provide accurate financial reporting and forecasting for projects.
  • Identify and manage risks and changes; update plans and documentation accordingly.
  • Maintain stakeholder engagement and ensure momentum of project delivery.

Altrad are currently looking for an experienced Project Manager to join the team.

The nuclear defence sector in the UK is vital for maintaining national security and strategic stability. The Project Manager will lead the coordinated delivery of the scheduled programme of intervention and upgrade works of the site. The successful management of this programme of works is critical to ensuring the sustained and continued use of this support facility which underpins the overarching project plan. The PM will ensure the project is managed to cost, schedule, and quality while maintaining the highest standards of nuclear safety, security, and environmental compliance.

Key Deliverables:
  • Project management of design, delivery and commissioning phases of electrical systems.
  • Provide project management expertise to establish and deliver project specific objectives.
  • Use and promote appropriate leadership styles to gain and maintain the trust, confidence, commitment and collaboration of team members and stakeholders throughout the project ensuring continued momentum.
  • Manage NEC4 contracts to maintain a productive working relationship with industry partners, monitoring their performance in terms of quality, time, cost and reliability. Identify and manage emerging issues to avoid programme delays or cost escalation.
  • Manage financial performance of projects to control expenditure against approved project budgets and provide accurate financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Have a sound knowledge of risk process and management.
  • Make recommendations based on impact assessments about whether to approve, reject or defer changes, or to request further information.
  • Update relevant plans, schedules and communications to reflect approved changes, and manage approved changes within the configuration management system.
Key Requirements / Qualifications:
Essential
  • Active SC clearance or ability to obtain SC clearance.
  • Hands-on consultancy and/or construction background, with a minimum of 5 years’ delivery experience, including at least 5 years in a management role.
  • Experience of infrastructure works, specifically within the built environment.
  • Proven experience managing electrical projects from design through to completion.
  • Knowledge of specialised electrical systems and evidence of their installation.
  • Hands-on experience managing delivery using NEC4 contracts, including change and stakeholder management.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • NEC4 Project Manager Accreditation.
  • Chartered membership of relevant professional body.
  • Degree qualified in a relevant subject.
Desirable
  • Experience of working in collaborative environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to fast changing needs.
  • Primavera P6 knowledge and understanding.
  • Knowledge of CEMAR or similar tool.
  • Nuclear awareness training (NIC or similar)
