Electrical Project Lead

Venn Group have partnered with a prestigious Central Government organisation to recruit an Electrical Project Lead on a permanent basis.

This role involves managing projects across the Estate, ensuring compliance with design standards, CDM regulations, procurement policies, and financial rules. It covers all RIBA stages, from business case development to design, procurement, construction, and handover, with a strong focus on stakeholder coordination.

With a bias toward electrical engineering, the ideal candidate will have a relevant technical background and manage multidisciplinary inputs. The postholder must ensure safety, statutory, and heritage compliance, contribute to process improvement, and may occasionally deputise for the discipline leader.

The postholder will be responsible for the delivery of a number of Projects typically valued between £50k – £2m.

Salary: £44,000 - £54,000

Location: Central London

Duration: Permanent

Working Pattern: Monday – Friday, 36 hours a week, hybrid working available

Key Duties:

  • Review project requests and define full scope of works with clients and stakeholders
  • Develop project briefs and initial designs, ensuring stakeholder alignment and formal sign-off
  • Prepare cost estimates and business cases as needed
  • Appoint and manage design teams, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations, and oversee design quality, budget, and timelines
  • Procure contractors and manage construction, including stakeholder engagement, cost control, and progress monitoring
  • Administer contracts, manage change control, conduct safety audits, and ensure quality standards are met
  • Oversee commissioning and handover, ensuring all documentation, training, and maintenance are in place
  • Manage multiple projects, maintain clear communication, document meetings, and deputise for the line manager when required

The successful candidate must have:

• Minimum NVQ L4 in a construction related topic (e.g. Electrical Engineering or Building Services) or the 5 years equivalent work experience

• Knowledge of how construction/refurbishment/conservation projects are delivered

• Experience in appointing and overseeing external contractors to ensure project delivery is to time, budget, and agreed quality standards.

• Significant experience of managing the operation and maintenance of complex building services

• Demonstrable financial and budget management skills.

• Evidence of planning and organising project documentation
