Role: Electrical Project Engineer
Location: Huddersfield, West Yorkshire
Type: Permanent

About the role

As an Electrical Project Engineer at Altrad, you will be instrumental in delivering solutions to the energy, industrial, and petrochemical sectors. Your responsibilities include defining engineering solutions, delivering detailed designs, supporting project budgets and compliance, and maintaining stakeholder relationships to ensure efficient project execution. This role emphasizes precision, innovation, and excellence, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to industry advancements.

Key Objectives

  • Take ownership of assigned work execution
  • Define fit-for-purpose engineering solutions
  • Deliver budgets, schedules, detailed designs, scope of work, specifications, commissioning and training plans, and final documentation
  • Support project managers with program and budget definitions
  • Monitor and report project performance and manage changes
  • Ensure compliance with company and client processes
  • Support project execution safely, within specifications, budget, and schedule
  • Promote HSEQ standards, best practices, and continual improvement
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Stay updated with industry and client requirements
  • Strive for efficient delivery through initiatives like "right first time" and "fit for purpose"
  • Communicate effectively with all project parties

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare project costs and schedules
  • Assist in developing project programs
  • Participate in process risk assessments
  • Coordinate with construction teams for estimates, methods, and constructability
  • Lead multidisciplinary design teams to develop detailed, approved designs
  • Manage procurement and review of equipment and materials
  • Coordinate with planning to provide resource and schedule info
  • Facilitate technical reviews and approvals
  • Manage project documentation and final deliverables
  • Support construction and commissioning phases
  • Handle technical queries and define commissioning and training procedures
  • Review spares requirements and manage inventory
  • Oversee project handover and completion
  • Report on key indicators: schedule, cost, change, quality
  • Engage in HSEQ activities

Qualifications and Experience

Required

  • Degree or HND in Control, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering
  • HSEQ qualification (e.g., IOSH)

Preferred

  • Level 4 Project Control/Management Qualification
  • Certifications like ExF, Ex01-04, Ex05-06, Ex12, Functional Safety IEC, C&G-15 wiring regulations, CDM regulations

Experience & Knowledge

  • Minimum 5 years in a similar role
  • Experience in industrial sector engineering, process manufacturing, and project delivery
  • Knowledge of safety standards, regulations, and project lifecycle processes
  • Proficiency in MS Office, engineering design tools, and document management
