Job description

Electrical Project Engineer - Projects[975628], Scotland, UK

This position is suitable for individuals with the ambition to take on challenges and deliver results independently. You will lead engagement with suppliers and our in-house construction team, as well as collaborate with our design team to provide real-time technical solutions. WGM is a trusted contractor within the Water Industry, delivering a wide range of Water and Wastewater Projects under long-term contracts. We are the sole MEICA Framework Contractor for Scottish Water in the Central West of Scotland and work with various water authorities in England.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed site surveys, including measurements, photography, and discussions with operations to understand processes and assess access and egress.
  • Understand BS7671:2022 standards; knowledge of electrical testing requirements is advantageous.
  • Identify process control procedures for assets/sites and build collaborative relationships with client operators to understand operational constraints.
  • Resolve technical and logistical issues during project implementation, including design and constructability reviews and on-site checks.
  • Engage with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring detailed design and scope requirements.
  • Assess supplier quotations to ensure they meet project requirements.
  • Lead stakeholder meetings, demonstrating technical proficiency and effective communication.
  • Support the Project Manager in developing construction methodologies and schedules throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Report on project progress, technical milestones, and outcomes during team meetings.

Candidates should have at least 2-3 years of experience in Industrial Engineering, with excellent knowledge of electrical systems in commercial or industrial environments. Experience in the Water Industry is preferred but not essential. A full UK driving license is required as travel to various sites across the country will be necessary.
