Job Description

We're looking for an Electrical Project Engineer to join our Natural Resources, Nuclear & Networksteam based in Luton, working on our Thames Water framework.

Location: Luton, Bedfordshire - with travel to various sites and some home working.

Hours: 45 hours per week – some flexibility available; please discuss this when you speak to us.

What will you be responsible for?

As an Electrical Project Engineer, you will support the delivery of capital maintenance and infrastructure upgrades within the Thames Water Framework. The role focuses on the design, specification, and implementation of electrical systems across water and wastewater treatment facilities.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Managing all electrical engineering aspects of projects from design through to commissioning.
  • Developing electrical designs in accordance with Thames Water specifications and UK regulations.
  • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including mechanical, civil, and process teams.
  • Reviewing electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, cable calculations, and schedules.
  • Ensuring compliance with BS7671 (IET Wiring Regulations), ATEX, and other industry standards.

What are we looking for?

This role is suitable if you hold:

  • A degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering electrical engineering projects in the water or utilities sector.
  • A strong understanding of electrical systems in treatment works, pumping stations, and MCCs/PLC panels.
  • Experience with LV electrical distribution, control panels, and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with Thames Water standards and safe systems of work.
  • Working knowledge of CDM regulations, H&S practices, and electrical safety legislation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Excellent project coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • An understanding of SCADA/Telemetry systems and their integration with control systems.
