Octavius Infrastructure is excited to be part of the Southern Renewals Enterprise, helping to deliver Electrification and Plant (E&P) renewals across the Southern region for the next 10 years. We are recruiting for an Electrical Project Engineer to join our team.

We are a leading civil engineering organisation delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK.

In this role, you'll ensure the safe and timely completion of projects, undertaking the role of Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) supporting the Contractors Engineering Manager (CEM). Together, you'll work to enhance design, construction, and quality standards.

You'll be working on… (your role and responsibilities)

  • Implement health, safety, environmental, and quality controls.
  • Collaborate with the CEM, Project Manager, Design Manager, and CREs for alignment.
  • Provide construction technical support to the CEM, Project Manager, and site teams.
  • Review and respond to technical queries and participate in reviews.
  • Work closely with the Project Commercial team for accurate cost estimates.
  • Liaise with the Project Planner and construction affiliates for project plans.
  • Control work packages and ensure cost and milestone adherence.
  • Provide progress updates and reports to the Planning Engineer.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure compliance.
  • Report safety, environmental, and compliance incidents.

  • Design and installation experience.
  • Ability to manage and direct site staff.
  • Knowledge of railway infrastructure work.
  • Familiarity with CDM 2015 regulations.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Background in rail contracting, construction, or electrical engineering.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills.
  • IEng / CEng or working towards professional registration with the IEE or other relevant engineering body.
  • Time management, adaptability, and resilience under pressure.
  • Ethical conduct and a continuous learning mindset.

You'll bring… (your experience and qualifications)

  • A degree in electrical engineering or relevant work experience in the rail sector, including feeder routes, substations, or high/low voltage systems.
  • Track competence.
  • Hold a full UK driving license.
