Job summary

Tilbury Douglas is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to support wastewater infrastructure delivery in the South West. You will coordinate electrical and ICA elements across projects valued up to £30m, working from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.

Hybrid working is available with travel to Exeter sites and our office as required. The role requires 5+ years in water/wastewater and an Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent.

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with at least five years' experience in the water or wastewater sector.
  • Strong knowledge of LV power systems, MCCs, PLC/SCADA, instrumentation and electrical commissioning.
  • Experience supporting projects through design, procurement, construction and commissioning under NEC contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate electrical and ICA engineering activities through full project lifecycle.
  • Review designs, supplier docs, FAT/SAT, commissioning and handover.
  • Coordinate with civil, mechanical and process teams for integrated electrical systems.
  • Provide technical support to site teams, monitor progress and ensure safety and quality.
  • Promote continuous improvement via modern methods and mentoring junior engineers.

Job description

We are looking to appoint an experienced Project Engineer (Electrical) to join our Infrastructure – Water team, supporting the successful delivery of wastewater infrastructure projects across the South West.

Working on projects ranging from £1m to £30m, you will play a key role in coordinating the electrical and ICA elements of schemes from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex infrastructure projects involving pumping stations, treatment works, power supplies and network improvements, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, high-quality engineering solutions.

Hybrid working is available, with travel to project sites and our Exeter office as required.

Key Duties
  • Coordinate electrical and ICA engineering activities throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with client specifications, statutory regulations and industry standards.
  • Review electrical designs, supplier documentation and technical submissions while supporting procurement, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), commissioning and handover.
  • Work closely with civil, mechanical, process and commissioning teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems, including LV power, MCCs, PLC/SCADA and instrumentation.
  • Provide technical support to site teams, monitoring installation progress, resolving engineering challenges and maintaining quality, safety and programme performance.
  • Promote continuous improvement by supporting modern methods of construction, digital engineering and mentoring junior engineers where appropriate.
About You

You will be an Electrical Project Engineer with a strong background delivering water or wastewater infrastructure projects.

You will bring:

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with at least five years' experience in the water or wastewater sector.
  • Strong knowledge of LV power systems, MCCs, PLC/SCADA, instrumentation and electrical commissioning.
  • Experience supporting projects through design, procurement, construction and commissioning under NEC contracts.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • SSSTS, CSCS and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality engineering solutions. (18th Edition and AMP framework experience are desirable.)
