Job summary

Carrington West seeks a Senior Civil Project Engineer to lead a major multi-discipline water/wastewater project from Horton, Buckinghamshire. The role covers the full lifecycle from planning to handover, ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery with the client and site teams.

The position requires a civil engineering qualification, strong project delivery acumen, and a willingness to travel. Competitive rate: £500 p/d inside IR35/Umbrella PAYE with a 12+ month duration.

Qualifications

• Civil engineering qualification required.
• Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel.
• Experience delivering civil projects in water/wastewater or utilities.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of major water/wastewater project from inception to handover.
• Assist with planning, programming and resource coordination.
• Ensure works meet safety, quality and project standards.
• Coordinate activities between design teams, suppliers, subcontractors and site personnel.
• Monitor progress, identify technical/operational issues and resolve them.
• Support procurement activities and management of suppliers.
• Assist with cost control, forecasting and reporting.
• Prepare project documentation including risk assessments and method statements.
• Support commissioning, testing and handover activities.
• Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement across project delivery teams.

We are seeking driven and capable Project Engineer's to support the successful delivery of a major Multi discipline projects for a leading partner to Thames Water.

As a Project Engineer, you will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, from initial planning and design coordination through to construction, commissioning and handover. Working closely with Project Managers, site teams, subcontractors and clients, you will help ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

This role offers a varied mix of technical, commercial and operational responsibilities, providing excellent opportunities for career development within a fast-paced engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of a major clean water project from inception through to completion.
• Assist with project planning, programming and resource coordination.
• Ensure works are delivered safely and in accordance with project specifications, standards and procedures.
• Coordinate engineering activities between design teams, suppliers, subcontractors and site personnel.
• Monitor project progress, identifying and resolving technical and operational issues.
• Support procurement activities, including the management of suppliers and subcontractors.
• Assist with cost control, forecasting and commercial reporting.
• Prepare and maintain project documentation, including technical submissions, risk assessments, method statements and progress reports.
• Support commissioning, testing and handover activities.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and best practice across project delivery teams.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience delivering Civil engineering projects within the water, wastewater or wider utilities sector.
• Strong understanding of project delivery, including programme management, procurement, commercial awareness and contract administration.
• Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Relevant engineering qualification in Civil Engineering.
• Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel as required.

Desirable

• Knowledge and experience of NEC contracts.
• Understanding of relevant construction and health & safety legislation.
• EUSR Water Hygiene.
• CSCS Card.
