We are seeking a skilled and motivatedElectrical/Mechanical Fitterto join our growing team in therail sector. You’ll play a key role in assembling, installing, and maintaining critical systems on rail vehicles, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and install electrical and mechanical components on trains, trams, or rail carriages.
  • Fit wiring looms, control panels, HVAC units, motors, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Conduct functional and safety testing of completed assemblies.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work completed and materials used.
  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures.

What We’re Looking For:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in rail, automotive, agricultural, or heavy engineering environments.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, mechanical assemblies, and safety-critical components.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and follow detailed work instructions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of rail industry standards (e.g., EN 15085, RIS-2700-RST).
  • Experience with PLCs, diagnostics, or control systems.
  • Rail-specific certifications (e.g., PTS, Sentinel).
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
